Hi there! I am worried about Lemon today. She has been on a hay and pellets diet and I gave her little slices of banana as treats. This morning i found she had produced too many cecals!!!! But, really a looooot! I couldn’t believe all that could come out of such a tiny body!! Should I go back to an only hay diet and stop the banana treats? I am calling the vet today anyway, to be on the safe side!

        Thanks!!!

I think it’s just a cumulation of all new things to her diet – the banana probably was too much right now until she gets her good diet back on track.

I wouldn’t worry too much at this point as long as she eats and drinks.

You really should only give her a tiny piece of banana like a 1/2 of a skinny slice only occasionally – maybe 3x times a week. Fruit should be given sparingly as it is so high in sugar. Why don’t you try a sprig of parsley or mint in place of the fruit as a treat and see what happens. I’m trying to do that so as not to give Edson fruit or carrot more than 3 times/week.

I think for now just stick to the hay and pellets and eliminate any fruits or carrots.

Yup I’ll second that-stay with hay and pellets. You can add treats later

I would say make sure you are not giving Lemon more than 1/4-1/2  cup of pellets per 6 lbs. of bunny! Edson is just under 4 lbs and I’m giving him 1/8-1/4 cup.

Thank you so much!!! I feel better now. The vet agreed that it must be all the changes and that she might be eating too much due to her previous lack of food. I will be observing her and I will make sure I am giving her the right amounts. Knowltons: I ADORE your bunny!!! How cute he is my god!!! That nose drives me crazy!!!

Oh thanks.  His coloring is really changing!  When I got him last November he had a very light gray nose – now it is black! Could we see the front view of your bun???? Ha ha. Please post some pics if you can!

Sorry I do remember these now! Lemon is soooo adorable! Did you figure out what timothy hay is in Spanish? Or rather did you find it??? If you “google” it you can see what the real name for it is. Thanks for the pics.
