I’d go for a hard case over a soft-sided carrier. Soft sided ones can have escape routes chewed in them 
I have one that’s cat/small dog sized, it has a front and top door. The bunnies are quite snug inside together but it works. Here’s a pic, in the pic there’s also a frozen water bottle rolled up in the tea towel, which is why it’s extra squishy. I think the limited room is good though, they still manage to turn around but they can’t move too much in the carrier if we have to stop suddenly etc.
