Im starting to get a little frustrated because I share a room with my little brother and Caramel never pees on his bed . Only mine . Does anyone have suggestions as to how o can stop this ? Or any idea why he does this only on my bed ?

It’s probably scent related or another potential is your bed feels better to pee on generally. Wick typically pees on his other parent’s side of the bed rather than mine if he pees on the bed.

People have done different approaches to this, but they only mainly involve being a hawk, monitoring your rabbit constantly when they’re on the bed and preventing them from getting there when they can’t monitor.

You can put a litter box on your bed and constantly bring caramel there each time a pee is about to happen so the connection is at least trying to be established.

You can do a startling sound right before a pee to signal it’s not okay and escort caramel to a litterbox.

For preventative measures, getting a waterproof cover is a great investment. You can cover your bed in a paint tarp or something when you’re not using it so the texture is unappealing.

Another idea is redirection — give caramel something more appealing. Wick’s hutch is purposely the tallest furniture piece because he likes the height to survey. If I built it at the same level or lower than the bed, he would choose the bed instead.

I love the idea of putting the litterbox on the bed and also redirection , i do sometimes feel as though he comes on the bed just to be able to get a better look around the room . Thanks for the advice !

Is Caramel neutered? Neutering helps reduce or altogether eliminate territorial peeing.

Also, chances are he pees on YOUR bed because he loves YOU more and considers your scent as belonging to him.

Try covering your bed with a crinkly shower curtain or plastic tarp or emergency blanket (the silvery kind) – buns usually hate the sensation of it under their feet and will often stop hopping up on such a covered bed. Cheap, so worth a try.

He is not neutered, I am starting to consider it even though i cant afford it just yet. logged back in today to say im getting super frustrated. He is doing it continuously almost as if he has no litter box pee and poop! I will try covering the bed with something uncomfortable or just havw to put him away everytime I step out of the room.

Saw this yesterday and had to post here. This is a very common issue for bun parents.

Haha yes that’s exactly what happens . Putting his litter box on my bed has worked perfectly. Thankfully no more pee on my bed I was worried I was going to have to buy a new mattress

Once again im having this issue with Caramel even with the litter box on my bed and fresh bedding he has started to once again Pee on my bed. I don’t know what else to do , maybe someone can give me some other advice or maybe it’s just time to Neuter.. right now I don’t know how soon I can afford to but I’m also thinking about starting a go fund me . I love caramel very much and I do understand that he’s just an animal and can’t control his natural instincts but it is becoming very frustrating to have to keep cleaning my mattress and it is starting to feel disgusting

Honestly I recommend neutering. My bun had just started peeing everywhere (especially the couches) and we got him neutered earlier this week. The first day all the hormonal behaviour increased, and after that he hasn’t done it since. It’s only been a few days so who knows how things will go, but if things continue like they have the last two I will say it is well worth it!
