So my personal life isnt the greatest right now, I’m about to move from my current apartment and I’m not sure where I’ll be moving to just yet. I’m going on a trip with my father pretty soon that will involve a lot of cross country driving. Usually I’d leave the bunnies at home, no question and find a pet sitter. I’m not going to have a home for them to stay at. Next option is having someone take the bunnies (reggie is about 7.5lbs and a mixture of something brownie is 4lbs and a lop/lionhead mix both are about 4-5 years old) the only issue is that my family moved away from me they always used to stay at my moms. And my only friends have 2 large dogs and a cat in a 2 bedroom apartment so they wouldn’t have any place to hide from the other pets, and the dogs are loud and play with the cat regularly, so that would be stressful in itself and exercising wouldn’t happen… next option is boarding at a vet but I won’t have a job until August (the trips mid june-july). So finally I’m poised with the option of taking them with me, they’ve both done 8 hour car trips before, but I’m just panicked that it will stress them out too much.. while on the trip with my father we will be finding me a new apartment, but I might be moving to a new city where I know no one… we will be hopping from relative to relative across the US so the trip would be broken up but extended.. reggie is the calmer of the bunnies, he would do better, but car rides aren’t his favorite thing.. have I considered all the options? Would it be more stressful to go on a 3 week long journey or to stay with large, loud, predators?? (reggie despises cats) I need advice…

How do I make them eat/drink during rest breaks?
Would it be more stressful to stay at my friends with all the animals or to come with me?
How do I minimize stress either way??

Also their cage is a modified large dog crate, so I’m worried the cat could reach in
There’s no chance of having no stress during this trip so which is the least stressful for my poor bunnies

Sorry guys, way too many poll options and I messed up trying to fix it, only friend options have dogs and a cat so there aren’t any friends where the bunnies would be free of predator aninals

Most rabbits cannot survive the stress of road trips, likewise, many cnanot survive the stress of unknown predators constantly nearby. Stress can kill a rabbit, remember. The “least stressful option” you want could still be deadly to them. The best options would be driving them to your moms house before going on your trip.

Gracious I wish that was an option, my mom is who I’m visiting across the country since she moved away. I’m going to pay my brother and his girlfriend to look after them, they’re the first stop on the road trip, 8 hours away (a journey which the bunnies have done before) and he has 2 dogs as well but they can stay in their own room away from the other animals. I’ll pick them up when I have a place and we’ll make the 8 hour trip back. All in all it will be an 8 hour car ride, a month long stay with my brother, then an 8 hour car ride. They’ve made this trip before and recovered from the stress of the car ride quickly, also my brothers dogs are very well trained and won’t bother them while they’re in the extra room.

Thanks for your input their care is my top priority and I think I’ve found a solution to minimize any issues.

Thats awesome that your brother is able to take them in and give them a room of their own for a while! Huge bonus that theyve done a trip like that in the past. I wish you and your buns a safe journey!

That sounds like a really good plan. Much better than driving around with bunnies for 3 weeks and much better than them being in the same room as dogs and a cat who’ve never been around rabbit before. I’m glad you worked it out.
