hello I’m new to the forroom and hope you would be able to help, iv got a lop called popcorn iv had him nearly 12 months and things haven’t been plan sailing he’s a snuffle bun and also has to have his insisions removed before Christmas, his also got abit of a mite problem which I’m trying to keep under control the vet said because he had a problem with his teeth and had them removed he hasent been able to groom himself aswell as he should, but since his teeth removal he hasent ate his hay like before so iv been giving him more grass to compensate, anyway this morning I noticed he done a really soft poo it wasent like the cecale poos at all, but he still ate it? was it just a misshaped cecal? or the start of diariah, I’m really worried, would much appreciate your advise xx

It’s often a misshaped cecal, it’s not alarming but it means a bit of tummy-trouble.

Fresh grass is richer than hay, so perhaps you could cut back a little on it, then increase the amount little by little every week. It has good fiber, and he needs that since he doesn’t eat hay like he ought to. Bunnies that have their incisors removed usually gets used to having to use their toongue more to get food into their mouth. They don’t need the incisors for chewing, just for pulling food into their mouths. The chewing is done with the back teeth.

I think it’s clever of you to give him grass, grass is very natural, species-appropriate food for a bunny. But bunny-tummies need time to adjust to any change in diet. Is his poop like it should be? (The round poop I mean.) Here’s a picture guide to bunny-poop:http://imgur.com/a/5N4lD

Has he had any treatment for the mites?

his round poop is really dark but still in shape, he has been on that many anti biotics for his pesturella in his short life and he’s never had any problems with his tummy, maybe in giving him to much grass which is to Rich for him, will cut it back for a while, he’s had 2 courses of invermectin drops, trying them again one last time and if it doesn’t work the vet said we can go down the injectable treatment

I’m sorry about the pasteurella + incisors, but it seems like he’s in the best hands wi´th both you and your vet to help him.

Try cutting back a bit on the grass and see if that helps. Sometimes a probiotic (Benebac f ex) can help with an upset tummy. Hopefully he’ll get back to eating hay again when he gets more used to not having incisors.
