Thanks, she’s quite the lover yeah, that heart shaped patch on her chest, a gentle disposition, and just a ravenous appetite for licking your face if you pick her up. We’re just trying to figure out what breed she is in order to learn more about her genetic properties; the local bunny group we adopted her from didnt know what she was.

                    Can u identify this breed?

                    Nope. Lol.
But can have a go guessing. Honestly, guessing a breed or mix from pictures alone is always going to be a crapshoot. Unless something like a perfectly marked Dutch that is the right weight and shape. Then it’s easier.
One thing I could say about your girl with 100% certainty is she is beautiful!

Do you have more pictures? What is her age and weight?

To demonstrate how diverse breed can appear, she could be an unmanned lionhead rabbit or she could just as easily be a mini Rex/lop cross or Dutch/cross whatever…

I can have a guess at her colour & pattern. As best I can tell, she’s a sable marten (not to be confused with the marten breed) that is Vienna marked. The Vienna gene is what produces blue eye white rabbits and often marks bunnies with Dutch-like pattern. You might get the white blaze or just a white spot of the nose or a white hock for example.
Even get half blue and half brown in the iris.

The reason I used unmanned lionhead rabbit as an example earlier is that I’m reading the vienna gene is fairly common in lionheads. So a program that is trying to produce a blue eyed white lionhead will produce lots of offspring that aren’t “perfect” or have and array of vienna markings that are not showable. Those rabbits end up culled or in petshops. Then turn up in shelters for whatever reason. I actually have no idea if she fits any other traits of a lionhead and some might say I’m mad for even suggesting the possibility.

Sorry for the long post. This is just things ive learnt from savvy members here and from reading comments by breeders on various boards.

p.s. I love the white heart!

                      Thank you.
She’s 2.5 lbs. probably dwarf something or other. I think sable silver martin dwarf?

And our Sparky. He’s half Dutch?

                        Ah! Love!
Are they siblings do you know?

He also has the marten pattern (white in ears, white belly and back of neck) and definitely Dutch marked.

So more possibilities could be Dutch/nethie cross or pure nethie that are false dwarves (ie didnt get the dwarfing gene)
and are dutch marked (Vienna marked).
At 2.5lb she definitely fits the weight range for netherland. She does look like a marten but I can’t see silvering in the pictures. Does she have white ticking in her coat?
If the rabbit group you adopted her from (and Sparky?) can tell you where they came from; that might provide more clues about the breed.

I doubt they are siblings. They’re from the same group, Bunny Bunch in southern california; but its been too long since we got them, so it’s not likely we could dig up any info there. She doesn’t have any white on the top. Going off your idea earlier, my googlefu shows a lot of sable martens that look just like Emma. That might be it. Sparky I think is just a Dutch, without the white mark on the head, which I think makes him looks pretty unique.

                            Thanks Jerseygirl
