        Hi everyone!
One of my bunnies, Marjorie, is a fuzzy lop bunny and grows long hair that tangles easily. She HATES being brushed and it’s gotten to the point that I feel bad brushing her because she acts like she hates me ? so I’m a terrible mom and stopped brushing her daily and she’s been getting bad mats. I brought her to a groomer to help me and the groomer was scared to keep brushing her because bunnies have delicate skin and she didn’t want to irritate it. Does anyone know if I can shave her hair down to maybe like an inch long to be able to reach any tangles and better maintain her hair? I don’t want her to be uncomfortable with mats or be scared of me when I brush her ? (also as a side note I have tried giving her snacks etc while brushing her and she won’t eat anything)

I do not have experience with long haired rabbits, but I know of people who use scissors to keep the length down in problem areas. So you’re not really cutting near the skin at all, but keeping portions at a more manageable length. Does this seem like something that may help?

I know the Instagram user bunnymelv just use scissors to keep one of her rabbit’s fur in check. Nothing crazy in terms of formal equipment.

If her mats are really bad it might be worth shaving her (or asking a vet too) and then try to get her accustomed to being groomed whilst it’s short so that by the time it’s long enough to cause problems, she’ll already be tolerant of being groomed. Is he an indoor or outdoor bun? If she is an outdoor bun, it might not be wise to shave her if it’s cold out tho.

I have a long haired bun. I haven’t cut his hair, but his previous owner did in the summer to help him keep cool. Now his hair has grown out a bit but here are pix of how he looked in early September: https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/aft/169187/Default.aspx
