I got a 2 by 2 playpen for my bunny. I was not aware that the height was too low, when I bought it. I am aware now, but I don’t think I can afford to buy another. My family is suggesting to get a “bunny cage,” but I know that that is not an option, due to how small it is. I can’t have her jump out, though I do take her out to play. I tried a sheet, but that didn’t work out. What do I do? I’m also afraid that if my bunny gets out, my cat might try to hurt her. And, I’m afraid of the injuries she can get. She plays out in my room, under supervision, so my room is not completely bunny-proof. Please help!

Hhmmm… Is the play pen located in a room where you can block the cat from accessing it altogether? I live in a house where we have dogs gated off on the first level and my bunny free roams in my room. Even though *I* keep the gates closed, I have a very forgetful 73-year-old father. It only took one escape incident for me to begin locking my bedroom door whenever I’m not there to protect my bunny. At work? Locked. In shower? Locked.

Alternatively, if you don’t mind appearances, if you can get your hands on some big pieces of cardboard, you can punch holes in them and ziptie them to the playpen to add some height. I find my rabbit can’t jump much more than 2 ft straight in the air and she especially doesn’t like jumping over tall barriers only to fall to the ground again. Whenever she jumped out of her playpen, she’d always plan it out so she’d land on the soft bag of hay I keep by her area lol

Do you have any sheets of cardboard around? You could make a roof with cardboard if poss.

When you tried the sheet, did you clip it down/anchor it?

I bought these NIC cubes and zip tied them on to add height. They are used to make cubbies for college dorms and inside closets, but you becuase the panels come together separately when you buy them you can use them that way….

You can actually see some of them behind my bunny in my avatar picture
