 yay! since the temp is dropping so much so fast and staying that way(a high of 30 tonite), buttons gets to come in early and stay in!!!!!!!!!!!!! yay! i will have an indoor bunny again, until mothersday, or late may!!!!    im am so excited! hes coming in about 4 hours. soooooo super physed  then at eight, i get to go to my homecoming dance. could this day get any better??? heres some pics of his cage…

1. should i give him his hidey house? i dont know if he needs it…it will just take up alot of space. 

 

2. as far as the flooring goes…is an old towel OK to use? i wanted to give him a break from that horrible wire the cage came with.i watch to see if he is peeing/eating it. or if hes tossing it around and stuff i will take it out.  i didnt want to use cardboard for flooring. i thought something soft would be nice.

OH MY!! That looks so lovely and comfy. I also drape a large towel over Hunny’s cage so it is nice and dark and she loves it. She goes in and out of her cage all day long but when she goes in around 5-6 pm she stays in for the rest of the night. I would love it if she would sleep on the bed with me like my kitties do.

I think bunnies love their hidey houses – so, I would give him one. Plus it is something to chew on!
My bun pen has cotton rag rugs in it. There are washable and I just picked up new ones yesterday at Target for $4,95. Lots of people use straw matts

geeee wiz. buttons just came in and immeadetly settled down on the towel. it was so cute. he mustt like the softness. hes so glad to be in,i can tell! when he was out today, it was quite windy so he was huddling with his fur all puffed. boy did he look mad now hes all flopped out on his towel…

Soooo…. I think that you should make buttons put on a good impression inside so that your mom lets him stay inside all the time! Is that a possibility?

actually we have talked about bringing buttons inside permanately. she seemed sortof open to it, but still thnks he likes being outside in the summer. it just needs one final push…maybe a few good articles on why NOT to keep bunnies outside? oh and im trying to encourage mom/bunny bonding time. like today she fed him breakfast, which of course went along with tons of pets. and yesterday she fed him a treat while he was out playing. all very good things!

WONDERFUL!!! This is your golden opportunity to make him a permanent house rabbit! The best way to do this is not to provide articles about why it’s important, but SHOW your mother why it is a good idea. Make sure to clean up after him every single day. Unneutered males can be stinky, so you will need to be extra diligent with his housekeeping! Hopefully when she sees how happy Buttons is (and you!) she won’t need any further convincing that this is a great idea. If there are any issues with him being inside, make sure to address them and make corrections quickly.

ohhhh im so excited. i think these first few days are my make-or-break(as far as first impressions go). i had a little talk with buttons about the spraying. he is trying really hard he hasnt sprayed ONCE yet(i can tell cuz his back wall of his cage and one side have cardboard up the protect the wall of the house). im so proud lol. i have actually been changing his litter 2x a day. he has been getting lots of time out to play now that he’s inside. it went from one hour out to almost 3! and im hoping that once hes a house rabbit(offically) it will lead to a neuter! i keep having mom do simple things like petting him or giving him his salad or sitting with him while hes playing. shes really starting to like him. 

but heres the best part- we talked more….and were making progress! she said he could go out during the nice days, but he could come in at night. almost there…. actually a few times i might put him out during the day if its nice. just for a few hours of birds and trees and fresh air. but i’d always bring him in later. im so happy!

OH that is good news!! Buttons will be safer and happier inside!! I agree, clean, clean, CLEAN!! I spot clean my rabbit’s and chinchilla cages daily and give them a thorough cleaning once a month, so there is no smell. I hope your mom can see  that Button’s is a good bunny and should be a house bunny
