So after ripping out stitches several times, dying skin, being anestesized 4 times, destroying three collars, checkups twice a week we finally got the stitches out for good! It got to the point that when I went in the office and said her name several of the ladies would chime in, “Oh no! What now?” or “Not again.” Most of the time they would get on the intercom and say a patient is here but with Butterscotch that would say, “Butterscotch is here.” And several techs would come out to see her. She has become somewhat of a celebrity there. And this is a huge vet hospital and the only one that is open 24 hours in Oklahoma City. They also have two vets that handle exotics so there was always one there to take care of Butterscotch. Dr Minson and Dr Ketz are wonderful. Dr Ketz called today to see how she was doing. It’s been almost two months since her spay. She is still very territorial and aggressive which I was hoping would be slowing down once the hormones that were still in her dissipated. How long does it take for those leftover hormones to work their way out? I’ve also gotten different answers about whether she will stop being territorial and aggressive. It’s seems to be going backwards as she has now started to growl at me as well as lunging if I try to do anything in her cage while she’s in it. I try to get her out to clean it but sometimes she refuses to leave. Once she’s out she’s like a completely different bun. She runs around jumping and playing. She and my husband play chase around the coffe table. He chases her and she’ll stop and wait for him then take off running from him again. It’s so freaking cute. Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know Butterscotch is better and we are all much more relaxed. I didn’t realize how much of a toll it was taking on me also till this was completely over with.
