Bunny wound? Or ringworm?

I gave my rabbit a flea bath, & while trimming some fur (I feel horrible for this), I cut some of his skin where there was flea dirt and fleas. After Gingin (my rabbits) fur dried up, I noticed this pink wound where I cut some of his fur. It scared me at first because a piece of skin (or worm?) was poking up. He did kick as I trimmed his fur and I got a bit extra . I feel completely horrible for it and next time will not resort to cutting out fur. When I first got him his previous owners never groomed him so yes he was flea infested, and I had to cut out the matted fur. This time I think I either got a bit of his skin, or it is ringworm unnoticed. He’s never itched that spot or bit at it, and it does not look dried out like ringworm would. Any thoughts? Right now I am on a limited budget from a speeding ticket (but WILL go to the vet if condition worsens, I absolutely love Gingin.) I am treating the wound with peroxide and neosporin for now. poor baby. Any thoughts on if it is a flesh wound or something much, much worse?

So this patch was bald after or do you think it was there before you bathed him? Where is it located on his body?

What did you bath him in? Not all products are rabbit safe. I’m just wondering if it could be a skin reaction to the flea bath.

Skin parasites in rabbits (fleas or mites) are normally treated with a spot-on product put on the neck. Or they’re given a course of injections. Try avoid bathing where possible.

So sad he was in such a state with previous owners.
Hopefully he’ll be improving and you can get that vet check soon.

It is located on his lower body near his tail. I’ve been using plain blue dawn dish soap & super pet soap to get rid of fleas. I think it was there after I bathed him when I’d pet him I’d never feel anything. The swelling at the edges has gone down today.

I’d just bathe him in dawn soap as its VERY gentle if you have to resort to bathing. I’d also advise to NOT use the peroxide anymore. The initial treatment is ok but repeat treatments can do more damage than good as it eats at the healthy tissue too. Neosporin is a great ointment to keep applying to prevent infection.

To keep fleas at bay and to avoid having to do bathes people usually apply the topical like jersey mentioned. It’s just less stressful than a bath

I’m so glad you rescued this poor guy. Sounds like he is now in very good hands! If you can’t afford a vet visit then keep an eye on it and continue with neosporin. If you notice it getting inflamed, or larger you’ll need to see a vet. Watch out for any kind of discharges from it to like pus. And keep he habitat nice and clean

Also ringworm is not really a worm it’s a fungus.

Okay cool, that is very good to know. Maybe I could just either flush it out with saline or dawn and water every day and then apply the neosporin? I’ve been up all night looking up treatments and some people are saying to put a liquid bandage or superglue over the wound just to protect it. Is that only for outdoor buns? & I remember finding kittens when i was younger with squiggly things protruding out of their skin not a pretty sight. I had a flashback to that but this does not look THAT horrible thank god. Thank you so much for the advice. I will be watching his wound each day for any changes. I was told since it turned white-ish in the middle it is definitely healing up. It was purple looking to begin with. Here is a higher quality picture of his wound. It only looks shiny because I just applied neosporin (his hairs kinda gunky from the neosporin too).

I don’t know if I would wash it everyday with dawn and water per se. The neosporin should be enough. You don’t want to stress him out with all these baths. Does he still have fleas?

A better quality picture would be great so we can actually see just how bad it is. I personally wouldn’t put glue on his wound.

And no of you see something dangling and wiggling that is NOT ringworm. It’s probably maggots or fly strike. Ringworm is a skin fungus, nothing should be wiggling if he had ringworm lol

So the white in the middle is where you cut him? How big was the cut? Is the white stuff a discharge??

Yes. No nothing came out of the cut. It is slightly smaller than a quarter. The red dot is where the skin was sticking up.

Ugh. looking back at the first pic, I was thinking I was looking at one of his testicles. Now seeing the second pic I’m concerned. It’s looking like a warble.

Ahhh no its beside his tail area. the area where his “fur skirt” is. Theres choppy looking fur because I cut fleas out, its not near his testicles.

Is the red dot a hole? It looks more like a parasite like a bot fly or warble, like Jersey suggested.

I will try and get another picture. The red dot looked to me like just skin hanging off, and it scabbed back up. Nothing was wiggling (idk if a warble can wiggle.) But warbles are fly larvae that get under the skin correct? I havn’t seen any flies in my house & this bunny is indoor only. Unless the flies are extremely sneaky.

Edit: I am posting 2 pictures, a close up then a far away one to show a good example of size. It looks like it is starting to heal and is getting slightly smaller & now it is purple in the middle (it also looks like fur is trying to grow through). I will continue to moniter it & put neosporin on it every night & morning. If there are any other suggestions as how to help the healing process any further that would be greatly appreciated. I appreciate all the suggestions I am getting, this is my first time taking care of a bunny, so I didnt expect the wounds to look that severe. Its probably from their skin being so sensitive? It looks like the skin around the purple part is just really swollen. I poked it (gently!) and it didnt move by itself or do anything weird besides just be a flap of skin.

He has also been very playful. Does not seem to be in any pain or lethargic or itching that particular spot.
