I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on scales to weigh buns with? After being told Luna had put on a bit of weight at her last vet appointment (since her stasis, so I think the vet was being unfair  but ANYWAY), I’d like to be able to weigh the buns once a week to keep an eye on it.

I have some tiny baking scales, which I can’t really get them into and which they’re not happy with, or human scales, which means I have to step on holding them and subtract my weight, which isn’t very accurate when we’re talking about bunnies that weigh c. 1kg.

Preferably in the under £20 range and small, but big enough for a 2kg Luna butt

Thanks H&T – I’ve seen similar in the UK, but I wasn’t sure I could get their (Luna specifically) bums on it! Do your buns fit, or do you put a bowl or something on it, then the bun in the bowl?

I put a cardboard box on the scale, zero the scale, and then put the bun in the box.

We have these digital kitchen scales from the Soehnle brand. It can weigh items and buns up to 3 kg with a precision of +/- 1 g, and you can switch between metric and imperial units. This model we bought came with a mixing bowl:

You could get some baby weighing scales. I just checked Amazon and the cheapest one was $22.99, which was for babies and pets.

I have kitchen scales. Some generic brand. As long as you always weigh the bun on the same scales you don’t need anything expensive. I think mine weigh up to 3 kg. I put Bam in a kitchen bowl. He’s not enthused, but he bears with it because the silly hoomin gives him a treat after. Tuesdays are weigh days, so he’s pretty used to the procedure.
