        Hi Everyone!

I had a strange thing happen to me last night. I attempted to cut both of my bunnies nails (totally failed – will have to call the vet to help) but after that my two bunnies ran into my brother’s room and hid under the bed. I figured it was because they were upset with me for trying to clip their nails.

After about an hour Barkley came back to my room and was acting totally normal – she would run back and forth between rooms but always come out when I called for her. Mocha on the other hand was hiding the entire time – anytime he saw me he would run and hide. I have been nervous because he does have teeth problems so I thought maybe he was in pain. He ended up staying in my brothers room all night.. I was very worried as this was extremely unusual.

This morning I changed my sweater into something not so baggy, and he came running over to me Binkying! He has been normal ever since – has anyone else ever had something like this happen? First time for me so I want to make sure there wasnt something I was doing wrong.

        Thanks!

It probably wasn’t the sweater. Some bunnies do hold grudges longer than others though.

If they get scared or you do sth unpleasant to them (cut nails, syringe-feed etc), it’s normal for them to keep their distance from you for a while after. There’s no telling if Mocha somehow associated the sweater with the unpleasantness, but my guess he probably just hated the nail-clipping-attempt.

I’m sorry you didn’t get the clipping to work though. I always take help from another person who holds the bun in his lap while I clip. I have the bunny in a burrito. The person holding the bun should try to cover the buns eyes with his hand or a piece of towel, because buns tend to calm down if you let them hide their face.
