Bunny pictures & update on bunny slave life!

   Goblin is still a silly bunny! His malocclusion is pretty crazy, I have to have his teeth clipped and ground down twice a month because they grow lightning fast, but he doesn’t mind as much and just lays in his cage all regal on the way to the vet then flops over on his side and goes to sleep on the way home, so I don’t think I will bother having them removed since he doesn’t seem to be too bothered, also I found a vet that does it reaaaaaally cheap, a few $ more than a dog nail clipping. I think its made us closer, he likes to snuggle with me a lot more, when I let him out he runs to the couch and waits for me to sit down so he can lay on my chest or next to me for pets. He still won’t let me pick him up though!!!!!!!!!! He will jump into my arms and snuggle against me and give me nose kisses if I’m sitting down though which is so cute. 

Also for some reason since his teeth started growing wild he likes to empty his hay box BEFORE eating it. MESSY BOY!

How did you find the vet that you’re planning to go to for his dental operation? As a full-time student with no income myself, I know how great it is to find a good deal on something as pricey as a vet bill. However, removing incisors is a serious operation and I would suggest considering more factors than price when picking a vet to perform it. Just as with any spay/neuter operation, ask the vet how often he/she performs this procedure, and how often they see bunnies in general. I think the House Rabbit Society has a good list of questions to ask to make sure that the vet is adequately familiar with bunny medicine.

@peppypoo – I found my vet by calling around because HRS doesn’t even have rabbit vets listed for my area, apparently there is ONLY one exotic vet in my entire area and surrounding towns. I was taking him to Banfield where I first found her but then I found out she worked at a bunch of other locations for another vet office in town and they charge a lot less for procedures. I asked her about removing his incisors and she said that it was an option and gave me a quote but I don’t think I will do it because going to the vet doesn’t stress him out anymore, he doesn’t even put up a fight and the vet even said he has been getting much better, she grinds his front teeth down without even having to sedate him. She is the one that did his neuter and a sedated teeth grinding to check his molars, etc. She sees other bunnies, birds, etc and even a pet raccoon. I’ve been really happy with her for his vet care.
