Two weeks ago I got Luna, my two month old house bunny. I left her in her cage for a day, then the second day opened the cage, and by the third she was running around in my room. She eats her 25g of nuggets a day and has unlimited amounts of hay, with the occasional treat maybe once every 2-3 days. She also drinks normally out of her drip bottle. Her poop looked healthy and her pee also looked normal. She’d poop everywhere around my room, but only pee inside her cage.

This second week, she started peeing outside the cage, but it all looked normal so I left it. But over the past couple of days, her pee changed colour and she started doing it everywhere and often. It can’t be dehydration because she drinks enough, and when I tried to change her to drink out of a bowl, she wasn’t interested. I don’t know whether this is normal and maybe she’s just marking her territory (she’s not been spayed yet), or if it’s something to do with what I’m feeding her or her health?

The only thing that has changed this past week is I have changed the type of hay she eats (the store didn’t have any timothy hay, and I don’t have a car to drive to get some and she was desperate). So maybe this could be it.

I’m probably just being too over caution because I am a new rabbit owner and want my bunny to be happy and healthy. I have attached some photos of the urine, one with flash and one without. Please let me know what you think.

        Thank you

Hi Luna! (from Luna lol) I don’t see any attachments, could you try to re-post the pics? In the meantime, bunny urine actually comes in a range of colors – rust brown, orange, yellow – so the color of your bun’s urine can fall within or change from anywhere in this range. But you do want to watch out for any drops of blood in the urine, which would indicate a health issue.
