I just recently got a bunny and he was neutered yesterday. I have owned bunnies before but haven’t had them neutered before. The shelter I adopted the bunny from gave me no information besides feeding and water. He is active and seems to be doing well. I looked at where they did the surgery and I am not sure whether this is normal or abnormal or really what more to expect. Any information is really helpful!!

        Thanks in advance!

Yikes! That doesn’t look good. Normally you will see a little bit of redness around the incisions and the “sacks” will look empty. But as time goes by, the redness clears up and the sacks shrink.

The blackish one is concerning. I would take him back to the vet. It could be infected and, if that’s the case, he’ll need antibiotics.

He was neutered only yesterday. Could it be just swelling from him moving around?

Please call your vet. It doesn’t look right. The black doesn’t look ok, it looks like it might be necrosis (tissue death). He may need to have the black parts surgically removed + antibiotics. The red doesn’t look great either.

If you have an email-address to to your vet, you could e-mail the pic tomorrow, maybe they won’t think it looks too bad. I don’t mean to scare you, it’s just that it should be looked at by a vet since it might not be good, and things like these shouldn’t be allowed to progress. Best wishes!!!
