I don’t understand why she does this. I do go to college and bring her up here to the dorm with me and only try to go home once a month so its not too stressful on her. Although when I do bring her home she does tend to dig probably because a change of environment and it isnt as big of a space like this dorm here but she is free roams both here and home. She’s never started digging here at the dorm before and she started yesterday and has been doing it until now.
I need some advice and how to have her stop doing this): ! I do give her toys and hay cubes to keep her busy and she has the option to go around the dorm wherever she’d like so I just don’t understand what’s happened

I’ll just leave this picture here to make you feel better 😆 😥 : 😆

But in all seriousness, sometimes bunnies just decide something is fun, and associate it with a particular place. I recommend getting a litter box screen. That’s what I do and it works great. Photo was from pre-screen days.

Also, if your bun isn’t spayed it could be due to onset of puberty.

awh😭i feel bad bc i yell at her for it ): i feel horrible bc after im like ik shes not meaning harm, shes just like a baby. She is spayed but, just a silly messy bun.   Could you show me an example of a screen because if i do it , it has to be like chew proof because if she wants to do something she’ll do it even if that mean she gotta chew through something😭

If she’s a big chewer, I recommend taking a look at the ones in the Binky Bunny store! They work great and are chew-proof. 🙂

I put a layer of hay on top of the screen as well to make it a little softer on their feet.

Here are a couple threads where people have described various litter box set ups and DIY screen options as well:

Rabbit makes a mess of his litterbox!!!

I recently switched from using the BB screens to the knitting mesh that Wick&Fable uses, but I do find they chew them occasionally, so if your bun chews a lot I would try the BB ones!

Being burrowers, rabbits dig.  And dig WELL.  It’s a natural instinct, no cure for it.  Some dig more than others.  If I can make a suggestion, try getting your bun a sturdy cardboard box (Food grade, make sure it hasn’t held chemical products or cleaners), and half fill it with semi shredded cardboard strips and shredded paper, and let them go to town in it.

And unfortunately, despite being very clean and fastidious creatures when it comes to grooming, rabbits can be absolute SLOBS when it comes to food, hay, litter and toys.  Loki is a very neat and clean bunny, and doesn’t chew anything he’s not supposed to, once he got past puberty, but when it comes to his food, it goes EVERYWHERE when he’s searching for his favorite bits.  Even if I put said bits on top.  He always has to check the bottom in case I hid something, he thinks.  And his litter pan, being huge, because he’s a Flemmie, still isn’t big enough to contain his litter because he insists on rearranging it after I clean it every day.  Which I’m sure is his commentary on my cleaning skills or something.  But he’s simply got to dig it out, push it around, until he has ramps in two corners for him to rest his chin and front paws on.  Which means litter over the sides of the pan, and all over the floor for me to clean up.  I just sweep it up and dump it back in, if he’s not in it, or on top of him, if he is.  If he is, he grumps at me, shakes it off, and rearranges it.  Again.  It’s funny to both of us.

Ive tried making her a dig box and even put some hay in there with the paper so she can try and forage her little hay bits but she still rather dig up her pee/poo 😭 shes a silly stink whom i love dearly, just honestly the fact that i sleep with her in the same room, just hearing that digging at a litter box is so loud it makes me restless): . Other than that i really wouldnt mind what she does, but as the time being while shes sleeping with me i try so hard to keep her busy , i rather her to anything than dig up her litter 😭 Ive seen people give their bunnies sand boxes to dig in so i did some research and found that it could end up getting stuck in their nose causing respiratory illness
