Bunny help!!!

Hey guys! So I have an 8 month old Lionhead who is the cutest thing in the world & I am very worried about him!! 

About two days ago he started to not eat his food like he normally would. When he gets his evening greens he usually goes nuts and now he wants nothing to do with them. He also will not touch his pellets. He will occasionally eat hay and has eaten 1/2 of his bunny honey & nut stick. He wont even take his favorite treat, banana So as with eating less there is less poops in his litter pan, I’m very worried because I have read horror stories of GI Stasis and whatnot but whats confusing me is that he is active, he is hopping around and even did a few binkys last night. So i feel like if it was a serious problem he would be more lethargic. The vet is not open tomorrow so i’m hoping someone can put my mind at ease at least until monday. 

One more thing to mention, our weather just got nice, it went from freezing to in the 70’s and he has been cleaning himself much more so i am beginning to wonder if he is molting? Could molting cause this eating thing? I’m a first time owner and i am really freaked out!

It could be a bit of blockage from moulting, it could also be gas… I don’t like the sound of the honey and nut stick… nuts are really not good for them and he may be filling up on that rather than eating the things he needs. Check his tummy to see if it feels bloated or firm and try soe gentle massage… Try to get him to eat more hay and drink more water…. If you have some really aromatic herbs like parsely, basil or coriander try getting him to eat those… Clean out the llitter tray so you can monitor his pooping.. and get to the vet an the earliest opportunity.

Thanks Roberta! I’m going to go buy as many good smelling herbs as i can and try that. He is still eating some hay and drinking water, he pooped out a large (id say about the size of a jolly rancher) clump this morning, it was not a bunch of poops all rolled into one but it was one giant poop, any idea what that is? Maybe he was trying to pass that? He was active this morning after it happened and now he has been sleeping all afternoon (this is normal, he always sleeps all afternoon). But still no interest in pellets or greens & has not been munching on his stick. Which, by the way, i did not know that was bad for them! Im angry because the people at the pet store told me bunnies love it and its a great treat for them.

Bunnies love them, but they aren’t healthy. Seeds and nuts are fattening. Wild bunnies will sometimes eat them when food is scarce and they need a boost of energy. House rabbits are not outside constantly trying to keep warm, so the nuts and seeds just make them fat. You also want to worry about certain kinds because the hulls and seed coats can actually cause a blockage if they eat too many at once.

You bunny could have gas. Have you tried rubbing his tummy?

I’ve tried the tummy rub, he freaks out. I just picked him up and noticed he has another large hunk of fecal matter stuck to his butt…what is this? I am so worried not one single vet in my area is open till tomorrow morning.

However, one positive note is that he ate a few bites of his kale when i put it out and then some hay

OMG I am going to cry tears of joy!! He is eating the basil and that has sparked interest in other things like banana (his favorite) and hay! thank you so much roberta!!! I am still going to take him to the vet for a check up because there is still no pellet eating & the poopy butt thing

Just an update…took him to the vet and he had a small fever and infection…after two days on the antibiotics he is back to his happy self thanks for the help everyone!
