        Hi guys,

I’ve a weird question. Tambor is moulting and I was wondering if you guys know what to do with bunny fur. Is there any way to use it? Do people knit with it, for example, or can it be used to fertilise crops?

I feel it’s a waste to throw it away, maybe it can be useful in some way other than to create a mess in my house .

I’ve only ever heard of people using angora fur to knit – but Tambor looks like a lionhead so there may not be enough to knit lol! Though maybe if you accumulated over a few moults…it may be enough?

As for fertilising, I’ve never heard of fur being used as fertiliser. Their poop on the other hand… :p

I have heard that you can peg it to a washing line and birds will take it to use in their nests

Put it in the garden so the birds can take it. My mum does that sometimes with her German shepherd’s fur. Never thought to do it with the rabbit’s fur but I will now!

Just about any rabbit fur can be turned into yarn as far as I’m aware. With shorter fur you just have a larger amount of non-rabbit fur. Eventually I will turn all of Thumper and Harley’s shedded fur into a nice winter hat.

You can put it in a suet holder and birds will use it for their nests this time of year. Bunny fur is great for this.

Sorry, I forgot to thank you! We’ll definitely hang the fur out for the birds to take during this moult <3
