Bunny eyes

I need some help please….

The jerk( and I am being extremely nice here) who lives in the garage apartment, had 2 black bunnnies. They were housed in 1-2 story cage..

He was informed by his doctors he could no longer keep them because of his health.

In late October, just days after I lost Gizmo, he asked me if I wanted his bunnies, Clyde and Hyde, I told him no. I said I would ask a friend of mine if she did… she also stated no. 

When I said this I told him, i also informed him that if he wanted I would take him down to our local no kill shelter and he could turn them in there.  He decided to put them on craigslist. but first he was going to increase the cage size, he never did.

Fast foward to Sunday, he turns these 2 bunnies, loose in our yard.  

They obviously were attacked by a cat..

Yesterday My sister Beth hollered for me to come help her and I see one of these black bunnies in her arms. 

Above his eyes are all scratched up and one of the bottom lids is ripped open, though not deep.

My friend and I are being blamed for Clydes injuries because we would not take him. 

Anyway Clyde is now safely inside again and will remain so..

1 Is the white sticky stuff puss?  He has no open wounds anywhere. 

2. What is the best way to get the dirt that is caked on around his eye, that has the ripped eyelid?  I do not want to hurt him. 

That eye is a little red but not bad.

Yes he is eating and drinking fine, we were worried about that at first 

Both eyes are open and he can see.. though I am not sure how well.

He might need to see a vet. Puss is usually a sign of infections, and cats have a lot of bacteria in their mouths and claws than can easily infect and kill a rabbit. Poor baby. Thank you both for taking them from the horrible owner

I’m not sure from your post if you were able to rescue Hyde too. If you haven’t gotten him already, I hope that you will be able to do so. Thank you for rescuing Clyde. I agree that Clyde should see a vet. If an animal has been bitten or scratched by a cat, it will need antibiotics – the sooner the better. I hope that he will be okay.

Dumping animals is illegal, besides being horrible. Maybe you should contact Animal Control and let them know what this jerk did.

That what I am afraid of…I got up today and both eyes were crusted shut..there was no white sticky stuff today though.  But I still think Clydes vision has been limited.. I did call the vet and they are booked until Monday

As for his brother Hyde, he is still in the yard somewhere. We have a wild warren and most of the bunnies are black so its a matter of finding him or being outside at the right time to get him. 

Once we do he will be brought in and he will go to the animal foundation, I can not care for 3 bunnies.
