So for the past few weeks my rabbit has been eating less veggies and/or been really picky about the ones she eats. For instance if I fill her bowl with kale and lettuce (she loves kale). She’ll eat all the kale and leave the lettuce. If I fill it with only cilantro she will finish all the cilantro. Yesterday I gave her cilantro and Dandelion leaves and she only ate the dandelion leaves. I’m not sure what’s going on, besides the veggie problem she’s been normal. Still active, eating her pellets and hay at normal amount. The only things that I have changed in the past weeks are 1) I added Rye hay in with her normal grass hay, she loves the rye, 2) she went to the vet and got flea meds (but she had the veggie problem before the vet trip).
This has happened before but after 2 weeks she went back to being not picky and eating everything.
After her spay last spring she suddenly started eating TONS of food she was never satisfied. She ate hecka veggies and hay, and finished her pellets in at most an hour tops. This went on for a few months, then she started to calm down and still ate hecka veggies but didn’t chow down on her hay as much. Then she was picky for 2 weeks, then went back to eating all her veggies. Now she’s doing it again.
Does anyone else’s rabbit do this? Is this normal with the change in seasons or something? The vet didn’t mention anything wrong with her but I forgot to mention the veggie eating problem when I went. I want to get her teeth checked but I went to the vet just last week or so, so I wanted to wait a while more before going again. She’s never had teeth problems, she eats her hay very well and eats her willow basket everyday.
update: tonight I gave her cilantro and lettuce and she finished it all. I’m so confused.
