        Posting this for ariana:

I have a situation with my male rabbit lolo. I am not home for 2 days in the week because i go to my dads house. All my mom does when i’m gone is feed him and give him water and hay. Even when i am home i try to play with him for at least 2 hours or so but im so busy sometime that i can’t even get to it. So i asked my mom if we could look into bonding him with another rabbit since it seemed like the best choice then. Is it absolutely necessary to bond him with another rabbit according to my current conditions. Any help would be greatly appreciate!!!

To answer your question, yes a second bunny would be a great thing for Lolo. However bonding takes a lot of time and effort which, from what you describe, you don’t have. One option would be to find a bunny bonder in your area that could do the bonding for you.

Thank you, i didn’t even know that existed. I will definitely look into doing that. The only problem is i asked my mom and she officially told me her answer, which was no. I feel like a very bad rabbit owner but i don’t know what else to do. My mom says lolo is fine and that he’s doing great but there is this deep feeling inside me that says im doing everything wrong. i dont have the space for another rabbit or the money. Is having another bunny a lot of work? Any advice with this topic is very needed

Having two bunnies that live together isn’t a lot more work than having one, but having two bunnies that live separately is quite a lot more work. You would need to keep them separately for at least the first month, then spend at least a month bonding them, so it’s a big commitment. It can also get expensive if you have emergency medical bills for two rabbits. Both bunnies need to be spayed and neutered before you can bond them.

You’re right that bunnies do need a lot of companionship. They’re social animals and they do get lonely if they don’t receive a lot of attention. If you’re spending less than two hours a day with him, 5 days a week, it means that he’s alone for 22 hours of the day, which isn’t really fair on him. Could you perhaps move him to your bedroom, so he could at least see you when you’re sleeping etc? Perhaps you could also get a set up at your dads house, and bring him with you if he’s a calm rabbit that doesn’t mind travelling.
