5 mo. old was out last night and suddenly started bleeding around base of the nail. It stopped bleeding less than a minute later and he seemed to be fine and kept eating/ rest of his normal routine fine. I am not sure what happened because one minute he was fine the next there was blood, the nail doesnt seem broken its all coming from the bade of the nail. Today he was doing fine and nothing was wrong + was using his paw just fine and once again it started bleeding alot and stopped a minute or two later. The nail isnt hanging so I am at a loss of what to do, but my bunny is fine and is on our bed just hopping about. Considering its Superbowl Sunday, I cant call a vet until tomorrow. Has anyone else experienced this and if so is there anything i can put on his nail to prevent infection? I just dont know what is wrong with the nail.

Sometimes the nail will crack close to the quick, but not break off. If it isn’t bleeding now, then I wouldn’t worry too much. You can always clean it up a bit if you’re worried about infection. Just keep an eye on it. The nail may eventually fall off.
