So Smokey, my 4 year old rabbit, got a hold of a Hershey square that my sister’s friend just left on the floor. She ate about 1/4 of it before I saw her with it and took it away. I am freaking out. Is this going to seriously hurt her? Please help!

Bunnies do love chocolate even though its bad for them… I am not sure how big a hershey square is but if the amount was only small it should not be an issue. Just make sure Smokey is eating lots of hay and drinking water to help move it through. If you see any indication of discomfort, diarrhea etc you could contact your vet… If it puts your mind at rest you could possibly ring them now and ask the question.

A Hershey square is about an inch-ish long. From the teeth marks, it looks like she took a few chomps from it. I gave her some dry oats and she gobbled them up and she has since been eating Timothy hat. Aside from that, she is acting totally normal and her poops are normal, too. I’m just hoping it stays this way. She is always trying to eat things she shouldn’t be, and she is a lover for sweet things.

Sounds like she’ll be fine…Buns are always getting into things they shouldn’t.. Bullrider has a pretty bun that decided to pirate his pizza and has now developed a taste for pepperoni… Quite a few of the members have buns with interesting palates.. I’m sure mine are part goat.

                How is she doing today?

It’s likely she’ll be fine. Keep an eye on her eating and pooping and if she’s normal for 24-48 hours, you can assume she’ll be ok.

It’s been almost 48 hours and she’s eating, drinking and pooping just like always and is acting like her normal diva self, so I think I’m in the clear. Thanks for everyone’s help and thank you for checking up on her. I’m sure she was confused as to why I kept checking on her haha

I think you would have had trouble by now if you were going to, it should be out of her system now Phew!
Hopefully your sister will mind her friends after this scare!
