Bunny acting differently

Hi guys.. This is my first time posting on this forum.. I love to read everything you guys have to say!!*
I need help from you.. My cute New Zealand White is 11 months old and she changed in behavior.. She is fully litter box trained since she turned 2 months old, but for few nights now she is pooping on my bed and she peed once.. the last time she peed on my bed she was 2 months. She also keeps circling around my legs like she needs something, but she has everything she needs.. I don’t know what’s wrong and I’m worried..

Yes definitely could be hormones

The peeing and pooping are territorial markings, since those areas smell so much like you I’d guess that she wants to mark them too. The circling is rabbit mating behavior, they will dance around the bun/person they like. Sometimes you will also hear them honking or grunting as they circle.

Although both behaviors might be annoying, they could be taken as compliments. It sounds like she really loves you

These things do tend to go away with spaying, although some rabbits will still circle and mark to a lesser extent when fixed.

When it comes to spaying and neutering, don’t hesitate to do some research about pricing and experience of the vets in your area. Ask about their success rates and experience with doing the surgery.

It’s important for females to be spayed due to the high risk of cancer later in life, and it will help with the territorial marking. If your vet says it won’t help, I hesitate to say have he/she do the operation.

Primarily it will stop her chance of developing uterine cancer but it may also help behavioural issues.

No. Letting her have a litter/forcing her to have a litter will not help in any way shape or form.

I wont ever force her.. My cousin really wants rabbits also and she stays on a farm.. I thought she could have babies so that my cousin won’t have to buy rabbits of her own..

I have to agree. A bunny litter can be more than 6 bunnies at a time… if your cousin wants a pet bunny I would just say get the one and not 6 right off the bet… 1 bunny alone is a huge responsibility let alone 6 plus mom and dad.

My Rookie did the honking, circling, and actually spraying pee mid binky before he was neutered. The vet said if the behaviour of spraying and biting is let to be going on for an extended period of time then yes a neuter may not help as the bunny will consider the behaviour every day and allowed. But fi the neuter is done within a good time frame of the developing negative behaviours then it can be resolved with it. My Rookie never sprayed pee again and unfortunately did also stop his honking and circling as well which I did actually miss after.

neutering and spaying does help with these behaviors. The costs depends on where you are…but spending on treatment for a bunny that is fighting cancer is a lot more in the long run. I think for Rookie it was about $300 give or take a few $10’s to be neutered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Thank you, I also think it’s better like that..

I live in South Africa, here it costs over R2 000 here and it’s expensive because I only pay R3 000

But it is important so I will do in for Spinach..
