I don’t have an enclosed area outside for mine, but I did put snow into a large plastic pan for him. In the comfort of his own home, he spent about 5 minutes total time actually checking it out. He sniffed, licked and dug a couple times, and then lost interest in the whole thing altogether. I just don’t think he even realized what a rare treat this snow-thing is!!
If the entire floor were covered in it, perhaps he would have played in it a bit more. Or maybe if he were a big digger, this would have been more interesting for him. Or maybe he’s just weird altogether, I don’t know. I DO know, they are more equipped to cope with the cold than we are, so you’d get cold before they would. I’d just watch them and when they started wandering around checking out the wall, sky, railings and furniture… then I’d be done. Because -I- wouldn’t want to stay out there any longer than necessary!
Or do what I did, grab something to put the snow in/on and bring it inside! For the amount of effort I put into putting it in something and bringing it inside (hardly any effort at all), it was totally worth it. Also, it had the extra benefit of me being able to put it back outside when he got bored and bringing it back inside at random times.
PS… I HATE the cold.
