At least one mouse has come into my apartment over the winter. In the past I used snaps and traps (didn’t work) and poison (did work). But now I have a rabbit and most of these options are not safe for him. What do other people use?

Is there evidence of them being on the counter? I have had very good luck with a very tall trash can and a piece of cardboard.

Oh that’s a great idea – do you build a little cardboard bridge and let it collapse into the can?

Yes, I will make a “plank” (like pirates walking the plank) out of a piece of cardboard. It is balanced half on the counter and half off, with the half off the counter position directly above the trash can. You’ll need bait of course. I would leave a little trail of seeds or something to lure them out onto the cardboard. Their weight will make the cardboard tip and they will fall into the trash can.
