Chomondeley is 13 weeks old this weekend (he was 12 weeks old on Sunday.) That means he’s about 3 months. I’ve searched up neutering, and there have been mixed results on the age- some say males can be neutered at 3 1/2 months, and some say that both males and females should be neutered/spayed at 4 months. I was wondering which one is better? I would like to neuter as soon as possible, and I was planning to make an appointment soon. Any preference on age? Thanks!

Your vet might have some ideas about this, so I think you should ask. According to the HRS, 3 months or as soon as the testicles have dropped is fine, but as you’ve seen yourself, there are differing opinions. With male dogs you often want to wait a while because an early neuter has a negative impact on muscle setting. I don’t know if that’s the case with rabbits too.

I recommend u wait until he is at least 4-5 months old, but it is your call. I got my bun spayed at 7 months, but I think the time is different for males.

As bam said, males can technically be done as soon as their testicles drop, but it also depends on when your vet is comfortable neutering. Some only like to neuter when the rabbit reaches a certain weight, so best to ask your vet regarding that.

Thanks you guys! I’ll call my vet this weekend- bam, like you said, I think that it is three months or as soon as the testicles drop… Chomondeley’s starting to get more nippy, and he also chews more things, so I want to curb that behavior as soon as possible.
