Today our heater stopped working, I woke up to the house being 62F (usually it’s 72). We had no gas coming in… so called the gas company. There was a gas smell in the basement as well. Apparently our line is broken and they are at the moment digging up the street and our yard with a backhoe and a bunch of trucks to repair it. Yikes! There are like 6 trucks outside our house. o.O

Oh, that is scary to me. I hope they get it fixed quickly. Sounds like chaos outside too.

Yeah, luckily it happened in winter – we never would have noticed a broken line in summer. Certainly getting a carbon monoxide detector or two… I’ve always had electric before not gas, gah. The entire side street is shut down, we can’t even get into our garage lol and our neighbors can’t get into their driveway.

              Gas leaks are scary!

There is no gas in our house anymore, we aren’t getting any into the house and the line is off. It’s safe (they came out and checked). The problem is all outside, the smell just seeped in to the basement where the line connects to us (there is one window there). Only contamination was confined to the basement (where the only gas appliances are anyway) and venting it out cleared it up, it never reached “dangerous” levels. I’m getting my own detectors for future issues though, surely, especially since the buns and bird are more sensitive than humans to it! I never really thought about it before, since I am so used to electric everything.

Our stupid gas line kept leaking outside. They dug up the yard twice and then came back and busted out the sidewalk before they finally (supposedly) fixed it.

Line is fixed, now we have a like 6ft deep hole in our yard lol they have to come fill it in tomorrow. But our furnace won’t ignite now so we still have no heat and we have to get a repairman out here for it… *sigh* Rabbits are enjoying it though, binkies and zoomies!
