Hi all – So this is my bunny, he was advertised as a lionhead but I think he’s a mix with something else, especially due to the length of his ears. Was wondering if anyone could identify the other breed, more for my own curiosity than anything else.

        Thanks

How old is he? Is he full grown? The ear shape screams lop.

Three months – that’s what I was told from the seller. I know the “fully grown age” varies by breed – I’m not sure how much bigger he’ll get.

Depending on breed, they reach full size around 6-9 months. Larger breeds are more on the 9 month end. They can continue to fill out until they are a year old though. Adult size might give you an idea on breed. But, honestly, those look like lop ears to me. Could be lionhead x mini lop.

No lop ears don’t stand upright? They “lop” down.

Some lops take a while to lop though, or don’t lop if they’re mixed with something else. Luna is a lionhead /mini lop mix, and had ridiculously huge ears that stood up like that until she was around 4 months old, then one day they just dropped. Her dad (also a lion lop mix) had ears that never dropped.

It’s the long and rounded shape that makes them look part lop.

They look pretty similar to me!

Oooh I see I never knew that, Thanks! They look SO different to my fluffykins ears (pure mini lop).

Yep, I was going off of shape since this bunny is still pretty young. They may or may not eventually lop. Or they could “partially” lop (i.e. helicopter ears). Many lop mixes will still have enough control over their ears to hold one or both up.
