Hello All, this is my first post, so sorry of this is a repeat question but I did try to search but the search facility says it is currently not working.

I am trying to see if one if my rabbits is any particular breed, when we got her a couple of years ago they did not say and at the time she was bought as a children’s pet, but now she is more mine I have got quite fascinated into finding out more. Can anyone help me? i have tried looking at numerous websites but nothing seems to come up to give me a more definitive answer, she has more unusual colouring than what I have found. Any help would be great.

Also please excuse her lack of fur on one side, she created herself a nest at the end of last week even though she is definitely not pregnant. Bless her.

Thank you so much and sorry again if I have repeated something I shouldn’t have.

        X

          Hi Rebecca, welcome to Binkybunny

It seems like the picture isn’t working. For info on how to upload pictures, you can check out https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/aft/144934/Default.aspx

If she’s the one in your profile picture, I’d say she looks like a Flemish mix. Let’s see what the others have to say

On a side note, is she spayed? If she created a nest, that means she thinks that she is pregnant – this is called false pregnancy and won’t truly go away until she is spayed. The process of creating a nest only to not have babies in it etc also may make her stressed. Female rabbits also have a high chance of contracting uterine cancer when they are not spayed, so it’d be in her best interest to get her altered asap if she’s not already.

Looks too small to be a Flemish mix. The face and ears make her look like a Dutch or a Havana mixed with something else. The coloring is gorgeous.

Aw, cute! Her coloring is harlequin, and she could be a Harlequin breed or mix. Harlequins are pretty big. I’m not at all an expert though.

Thank you for the replies and thank you Wick for getting my photos to appear.

I was getting so confused with looking at so many photos and not really finding any online that had her colourings etc. So a mix of a couple would make far more sence.

Rabbits breed.. like rabbits. And since a lot of people simply throw them together without knowing how young they can breed, there are a lot of rabbit “mutts” out there, so this is potentially one of them. Very cute.

He has the Harlequin pattern gene for sure. It just isn’t “classic” Harlequin. The gene has been introduced into many breeds because people like the pattern. I’m going to guess he’s a large breed mix. Probably NZ and some other stuff.

Your bunny is gorgeous! The color pattern looks like a Harlequin. Perhaps like others are saying a Harlequin mix? Beautiful bunny!
