Charlie is my 2 year old spayed doe. I adopted her from the local rescue after a family found her in their yard. They thought she was wild since she’s agouti, but she was too friendly to be. We have a lot of flemmish breeders up here, so at first I was wondering if she was a flemmish, but now that she’s all done growing, I’m not sure what she could be (besides a mix, haha). 

Last time she was weighed she came to 15 pounds, now she’s filled out more so I expect she weights a bit more than that, but not over 18 pounds. She’s actually bigger than our cats, and rivals our JRT. Her ears are about 5″ long and surprisingly fluffy on the inside. She’s pretty hefty, but very active. Her coat is very thick and very soft, and she’s all agouti with a bright white belly and some orange-ish accents on her neck. Her eyes are very dark brown, and her nails are black.

Any ideas?

Hmmm… Most likely a mix. I’m thinking that she could be an escaped Flemish Giant if you say breeders are common. Either that or a Flemish Giant mix because she’s so large.

I’d say a flemmy cross. Something in her face is saying she has a little Rex in her. Her ears are too short to be full flem. My guess is she’s a mix between full flemmy and a mix breed.

I always figured she was a Flemish cross, too! I thought it was more common for flem’s to be 20+ pounds, though, so I was never sure. Do you guys think I have health concerns to worry about? Right now she is super healthy, aside from the chub, hehe, but just need to keep in mind any future risks.

Just remember… If you think she’s over weight because of her dewlap (double chin)… That’s normal for female flems.

From what I can see from the pics she looks healthy enough to me, so I wouldn’t be too concerned at the moment, but it’s always good to plan ahead…
The only thing I would be concerned about at the moment would be her weight, she looks a bit overweight to me, but it may just be the pictures. She’s gorgeous though! A real pretty bun!

She’s pretty – her ears seem shorter than a Flemmie but certainly she could be a Flemmie Mix.

The white belly, size, and coloring screams flemish (steel gray). The darkness of her ears and on her nose looks like there is californian in there. I’d guess she’s a flemish californian cross which is a typical cross for meat rabbits. She’s beautiful.

The color of her fur and her size is actually making me think Chinchilla / Chinchilla mix of some kind. Could have some Flemmie in there!

Good call manic muncher! That’s a high probability with the meat rabbit thing.

Also chinchilla is a good call also.

I agree, the ears are too small to be pure flemmie but a mix is possible. Also, her shape is off for a pure flemmie.

I wouldn’t have thought californian, but now that MM mentions it I can see it as a possibility, not just the darkness but the shape too. Either giant chinchilla or american chinchilla crossed with flemmie also fits, especially in a farming area, though the ears seem a bit short for that too.
