Bought my rabbit from a pet shop 3 weeks ago and he is now really unwell, sneezing, runny nose, runny eyes! I am taking him to vet on Wednesday. Should I phone and complain or wait to see what it is? Is it likely he caught this from another rabbit? I feel so bad for him I am angry with the pet shop too. He was sneezing a bit ever since I got him, at first I didn’t think much of it.

I took him for a health check / jags about 2 weeks ago and they said he was healthy, I mentioned he snores and scratches his ears a lot and they said its normal. I’m scared its pasturella.

Pasteurella isn’t a death sentence these days, but it can need several weeks of antibiotics to get rid of. That’s not always the case though, so a vet usually starts out with a week- 10 days of antibiotics. Sometimes an anti inflammatory drug or a decongestant is given to reduce swelling of the mucosa Pasteurella is more or less
always present in the nasal cavity of a bun, but most buns never get sick from it. There can be a flare up if a bunny gets stressed, and it doesn’t have to be like “bad” stress, just getting a new home is stressful for a bunny.

You could make a complaint to the pet stor, but if they agree to take your bunny back, this bunny’s prospects are very bleak.
