I find that I spend more time researching rabbits then being with my rabbits. I am creating this challenge to help other people like me (or any one who wants to bond with their rabbit) to spend more time with their rabbits and to bond with them.

Week #1 Challenge is….Watching your bunnies eat!

What you have to do for this challenge is while your bunnies are eating their veggies:

        1. Sit or lay next to your bunny while s/he eats
        2. Talk to them

I don’t know about you guys but I find it adorable to watch how fast they gobble up their veggies. Also, talk to them in a soothing voice. Say their name and let them know you are “safe” The point of this challenge is for the bunny to get used to your voice and being around you.

Please: Spend at LEAST 5 minutes every day this week watching your bunny eat. ( although its hard to stop once you start).
Take one video or picture of you doing the challenge to help motivate each other and show off your cute bunnies. You don’t have to though.

Please Don’t: Touch or pick up your rabbit. We are letting them know we are safe. Moving our hands around and trying to pet them will not help. You may move around while doing this challenge but try to be as still as possible and make any movements slow and calm. No jerky movements.

This challenge is made for every bunny, from shy – tame.

Please tell me bellow if you are doing the challenge. I will be posting a new challenge every week. You can start anytime you want and go at your own pace.

          Good Idea, Mocha!

This morning, I sat next to Chacha while she was eating hay. I was looking into her big brown eyes and talking to her. I took a photo of HER, but not of the two of us, hahaha. Is that okay to post?

chacha, its ALWAYS okay to post pics of the queen!

Idk if this makes me a little sad but I watch bunjamin eat all the time. And I’ll lay with him occassionally but usually he’ll come ask for pets if I get down there with him. I will do the challenge. Most challenging being getting a picture of me and bunjamin at the same time!

Squee, ChaCha! Such a beautiful little otter girl!!

I’ll be participating, but I think, since I didn’t notice this until after their nightly veggie hand out, that I’ll post tomorrow (if I remember amidst the packing, 3 weeks till move and the buns get their very own room! -dance-) So if I forget, please excuse the flightyness!

                  Neat idea!

If you’re recommending people post pics of themselves with their buns, that’s fine, but for newer people who may not have read the forum rules yet, we don’t allow pics of members under 18 years old to be posted.

I spend a little time each day just laying on the floor talking to them, Blue my flemmish just comes strait to me and climbs all over me and wants to play

Beka27: No I just meant for them to take a picture or video while hanging out with their buns. They can take pics and video of them and their buns if they wish though!

Thanks for participating. I did it last night while the bunnies ate their salad. I didn’t get any pics/vid but I have all week for that!

mocha: that was me that misunderstood. I’m kinda relieved the pics don’t have to include us! I think I would fail every week. I only have one set of pics from me and bunjamin and I had to be super ninja to get them!

This is a great idea. Since I am beginning the bonding process with my new girl this will give us something to work on. I work best with goals! I would love to share my progress with you guys. I generally have been leaving her to eat on her own to give her some space but I will try changing it up this week.

Nova has a very special way of eating. First, I have to be awake. If I go to sleep, she does other stuff (like eat hay and veggies, but not her treat pellets). But I can’t be looking directly at her. She has to run around the room in circles a few times, showing of her sexy binkying, while I watch, but when she finally does go over to the food bowl, she looks at me, mouth hovering just over the bowl, until I look away. Then she only takes a few bites until later and has to repeat the process.

KytKattin: Mocha will not eat veggies in front of people he doesn’t know very well like my sisters, mom or dad. Will she eat veggies in front of you?

Idk, her veggies are in her cage which is under my bed. And she doesn’t start eating them immediately. She likes to take her time.

                                              not the best action shot..

the camera cord is much more tasty

and a nap straight after, eating is such hard work

I absolutly  love this challenge. Maybe I can actuallly keep with it unlike my diet . I have only have been doing this for a couple of days and I can already tell Bunny is becoming used to me being around  a little more then she used to.

                                                    Now on to the cuteness!

On a side note, I have noticed that Nova is obviously more active in the morning when I first wake up because she is crepuscular. I understand that. What I don’t understand is why she waits to eat her cecotropes until I am watching. She gets all excited in the morning, zooming around, and then she will stop and eat them, and then she will zoom around more. She doesn’t do this in the evening. Is there like a normal time for them to eat their cecotropes? Or is it just direct correlation between my feeding her aprox 12 hours before?

Powder always eats his at night, around 2amish. I feed him at 9pm so I don’t think it has to do with feeding time, every bunny probably has a different schedule for that.

I’ve noticed my bun is more “naughty” and playful in the morning (binkies and zoomies galore) then in the evening. I haven’t noticed the cecoptropes thing but I’ve been wondering why he’s more active in the morning and not the evening. I even broke out his last willow wreath last night in hopes of getting some binkies but nope. Just calm noms.

Lulu: Get that camera out of my face!

                                                                      Mocha: CHEESE!

Mocha and Lulu both squished in the same litter box after I put fresh hay in. (note: I am not using hay racks ATM because they always find a way to pee in them! LOL
