Hi everybody, I’m new to this forum so allow me to introduce myself and my buns:

I am a single Mom of two boys, ages 10 and 2 years. We have two bunnies. Jasper is our almost 2 year old male netherland dwarf who was neutered about a month ago. Heidi is our 5 month old female mixed breed who has not been spayed.

For the last few weeks we have kept the two in seperate rooms and given them seperate exercise times. Now that the magical 6 week mark is approaching I’ve still kept their playtime in the living room seperate but no longer block off the other’s area. Heidi will hop right over to Jasper’s cage and they sniff at eachother through the bars. It’s so cute!  She leaves poops all around his cage. Is this her way of marking?

I haven’t noticed any aggression between them at all and they actually seem excited to see one another. What should my next step be? Should I move the cages next to eachother? Any advice? Thank you in advance!

Welcome! Are you planning on getting Heidi spayed? That would be best before really starting bonding as her hormones will change once she is fixed. Her poops are her saying this is my area!

yes. mrmac is right. when heidi poops she is claiming this as her area. this is fine though, its normal behavior. once she is bonded and spayed, it will stop.
