        Hi guys,

My Misty is 6 month old, and she’s booked in to be spayed on Thursday. However, i am going to rescue a male bunny thats only 11 weeks old, so he cannot be neutered yet. I know i need to wait to bond the rabbits until he’s been done, but should they not be allowed to play with each other at all until? I have seperate cages for them so they can see and smell esch other to start off with, but 3 months seems a long time to wait to fully introduce them.

        Any help would be appreciated.

No physical contact whatsoever. No play dates. Bunnies should only be put together once bonded or for bonding sessions.

I meant to be put together for bonding sessions. Will they be okay, or should they not be bonded at all until he’s been neutered too?

No, no bonding sessions til at least a month after his neuter. This is to make sure all his hormones have disipated. You must pre bond during this period. That means swapping toys, bowls and enclosures/living space etc

If the boy isn’t neutered yet, he may still want to hump the girl (since he doesn’t understand that she’s spayed and can’t have babies). This would usually make the girl annoyed and hence retaliate, which causes a fight. Once a fight has occurred then bonding becomes a more difficult task since there are grudges being held.

So it’s best not to introduce them
