Bloody poop/Disinterest in eating/Reduced drinking

Hi Everyone, so here’s what’s going on.

1) I found ONE stool that looked as though it was bloodied, and one litter pellete that was also half red
2) Bear ate only some of his vegies this morning, I offered him a different variety that he hasn’t had in a while and he munched most of that up, but still wasn’t too keen on eating which was a red flag because his vegies are his favourite thing.
3) He doesn’t seem to be drinking any water (still monitoring)
4) He’s eating plenty of hay and pooping regularly, but some poops look a bit soft and aren’t as round as the others

I’m not in a panic because he is eating and pooping and I gave him a few bits of mint soaked in water so he has had some water.

But, does anybody know what’s going on? I’m suspicious that he’s picked up something off the floor/eaten something he shouldn’t have and it’s disagreed with his stomach.

Also, I’m just wondering if anyone elses rabbit does this, but after they eat their daily vegies, do they sit in a big fluff ball, relatively motionless? Bear has done this ever since forever so I didn’t think twice about it, but I’m thinking I may be feeding him too many vegies?

Normally I feed him about a cups worth of vegies (all vegies that I cycle through and he’s become used to)

I would definitely bring him to the vet asap. Blood in stool is a cause for concern. It could be something he ate or something like an ulcer. That coupled with unwillingness to eat is another red flag. I hope you can get him in soon.

Please let us know how it goes and how Bear is doing.

That’s not too many veggies. My bunnies don’t do what you are describing Bear doing after eating veg. Not sure why he would do that.

Update:

I agree, blood in stool is a huge cause for concern which is why I panicked to begin with, but I was confused as to why it was just ONE poop pellet. I wonder if it was just discoloration in the litter pellets (I use recycled newspaper litter), it was hard to tell.

His health has improved, he has been drinking, eating hay as per normal and I gave him a few mint leaves soaked in water earlier. I read somewhere it’s good for their tummy and the water was to keep him hydrated. He of course, scoffed it down with mint being his favorite thing in the world.

His energy levels are back up and I’ve been monitoring his poop and it looks to be okay. I’ll do another thorough check in 24 hours from now to just make sure.

After eating his vegies (on a normal day) it almost looks like he has double in size, he pulls all his feet all the way in and just puffs into a ball. It looks very different to when he meatloafs.

Has anyone else had experience with their rabbits doing this?
