I think it’s coming from his urine, for when I clean his tray I’ll find a bit of it in the tray and at times there must ba about 1/4 cup in there.  I think it’s coming from his urine because he doesn’t have any blood in his stools, just in the urine.  So I’m wondering if it will stop or whould I bring him to the vet?  He’s almost a year old german angora and out of 6 years of having rabbits this is the first time this has happened to me.

        Thank you

Rabbits can have red, orange or brown urine at times, usually due to veggies or certain foods they have eaten, and that’s perfectly normal. Are you sure that this is blood and not just colored urine? Usually if it is blood, you will see red spots or lines or splotches among the yellow urine, not just a solid reddish color. You can use hydrogen peroxide to test if it may be blood. Pour a little on the stain and if it bubbles up a lot, it probably is blood.

If you have determined that it is blood, or you just aren’t sure, you should take your rabbit to the vet, to see if he may have a urinary infection. You could also try to obtain a fresh sample to take in for testing.
