Bunnies Rule! And Binkybunny.com Rules!
BB puts careful thought and effort into creating this fabulous website, with care for both the animals and the humans. But did you know about the rules? She updates them and adds to them periodically as the need arises, so I thought I’d ask if our members are checking them out. Let us know, and give any feedback on what you might like to see or think would help. Or just let her know your appreciation. Binky On! ![]()
Well, I know we are not allowed to discuss intentional breeding or share rabbit recipes, and that we are not allowed to give out our real names if we are under 18 or post pictures of ourselves… This is embarrasing. I’m probably breaking every rule for every post I make.
Do you have a link to these rules? Or could you make the rules a sticky for each sub-forum?
And yes, BB – every work you have done on this site is so highly appreciated!

Hi, Karla. No worries, I am posting the link to the Rules Page above. ![]()
The Green Banner at the top of any page is where you start for all info.
Click FORUMS.
Immediately below the green banner marked GENERAL FORUMS there are the folders of forum topics.
The first one is FORUM RULES AND FAQ (read only)
https://www.binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/a…fault.aspx
I’d recommend reading both. FAQ can be really helpful. The Rules are for the forums, not rules about bunny care. That comes as advice throughout the site. Everyone knows our bunnies don’t like rules!

If this were the case, you would know. Part of the Forum Leader’s job while we are reading each (and every!) post is to keep an eye out for rule infractions, or things that might be borderline. If something is wrong with a post, you’ll be notified either thru the thread directly or thru private message of the rules.
In a nut shell, be respectful. Don’t flame or harass members. Follow the guidelines as far as what content is allowed.
Except for Beka. We love to disrespect Beka. We blow raspberries at her over the phone. We incite Max and Meadow to hide her car keys.
In short, be respectful and do not flame or harass everyone. Unless you’re Beka. Then we want bribes and gifts to make us stop. Bwahahahahahaha!!!!
Very, very funny Pam! ;oP
hahaha
I skimmed them when I was notified my sig was too big to make sure when I was resizing it would still be within the regulations. Other than that no I haven’t read them.
I think the rules page is a bit too long and detailed. You click it and it’s kind of this big daunting wall of text.
I think it would be helpful if a quick bulletpoint list of all the rules summarized into one or two sentences each was offered. Then if a member wants to know more in-depths details about a rule, they can be referred to the current rules page.
Also in many forums I’ve been on the rules are posted on every section’s page as a sticky/permanently at the top thread. That way they’re kinda hard to miss. This would go nicely with the quick list of rules idea, as the current rules page would be rather long to put into one post.
i read them after i found out i broke a rule * hangs head* i didn’t know you had to be 13 to post on the forums until some one told someone else that. so i read the rules…. i didn’t know what to do though i didn’t want to disappear until i turned thirteen so i thought it wouldn’t matter. i feel horribly awful that i didn’t know about the age limit. i hope i wont be looked down on because of it. ( i am old enough now)
The rules are lengthy. And BinkyBunny has tried to condense them and make it easier to read where she can. The rules have come about largely through trial and error. If something comes up that is not *technically* against the rules, but it’s decided that it *should* be, BinkyBunny reserves the right to make additions to the rules. So the rules are an ever-evolving piece of “Bunny Legislation”.
We’ve had issues in the past where members knew the rules so well, they figured out how to JUST BARELY abide by them. This caused grief for members and moderators alike, so BB tends to go into greater detail now, just to make sure that the expectations are clear and people can’t go back and argue that they did not break a rule.
Many members have inadvertently broken rules (myself included!) but this board is, as a whole, VERY good at being respectful and following common courtesy and etiquette. Most common rule broken is probably the signature being too big, which doesn’t HURT anyone, it just makes it difficult for the webpage to load for some people, or it makes a thread much longer than it needs to be. So we can post pics in the sig, but within reason.
You’re not going to get kicked off the site for breaking a rule. You’ll get a kind email reminder of the rules and the thread may be modified or deleted. It’s only when these behaviors become a habitual problem, that additional action may be taken. We try to keep the forum light and happy, and not rule with a heavy hand.
That’s why I think a ‘short version’ and ‘long version’ of the rules would be a good idea. Short version to easily and quickly read through, long version for those who want to try and just sneak by and BARELY not break a rule. ![]()

ACK ACK ACK!!!
Rabbitpam here. I just messed up. I meant to quote, then write this response, and instead I clicked edit and i inserted my own reply. I hope I can fix it. Anyway, Bunnnnnnnie quoted Beka, but since Beka’s reply is directly above it, nothing was lost. I then wrote this:
I think I have to disagree there. The rules have come about because of former posters pushing the limits. It’s not a rule that is a law, it’s a rule for the comfort and well being of our members and their bunnies. So whether you barely break a rule or not, if it is clearly objectionable, either a member or a forum leader will object. Then if it’s something that is misleading other members it takes the forums down a slippery slope and it changes the character of the site. So read rules or not, it will be flagged. You don’t want the rules to anticipate every possible poor scenario. Rather, they want to set the desired tone for the site and stay within those limits.
But I do agree that punchy, bulleted rules are easier to read, and could be linked to more in depth descriptions. Or, more simply, an indented elaboration under each one is fine. We’re working on it.
One of the things I love about this forum is that there ARE rules and most folks who come through the door respect them. I have been part of plenty of forums (usually not for long) that don’t.
I read the rules upon signing up, but had no idea that BB was updating them. Which is a good reason to go over them again. Thanks, Pam!
