I took apart an old kennel I had and made it into a big baby gate that fits across the kitchen door. There is nothing for Bindi to get under and nothing for her to chew on and it is the perfect play pen. Loki decided he had to check her out. He sniffed and licked her and then laid down on the other side of the kitchen watching her. Then he got in stalking/pouncing position and trotted over to Bindi with not so honorable intentions. She gave him the Bindi eye
and he did a quick 180 and was out of the kitchen completely. After that, he has been very respectful and she adores him. Here are a few pics.

“Groom me NOW, Kitteh, or else!” hehehe
Is that what she’s saying? I’m still learning the Language of Lagomorphs
. On a side note, I wonder why she looks so mottled. She has been shedding a little bit, but I can’t pull any fur out when I pet her and tug a little. Monkey, do you know what’s going on with her ‘do?!
Awesome!
As to her “do”… maybe Loki has been grooming those patches?
Jerseygirl, nope, those aren’t from Loki – he is very careful not to anger the goddess
. She’s starting to look like a leopard spot appaloosa . I wonder if the lighter color will fall out or what. Guess we’ll see! I am happy to report that Bindi and I are making progress. Well, I’m making progress and Bindi is a good trainer. I try not to irritate her too much and I am careful to keep my hands away from her mouth and we seem to get along just fine. It also helps that I have figured out her “currency”. – she loves pellets more than anything in the world and now I use them to bribe her (or spoil her a little). I bought her a little set of the plastic baby keys and she was throwing them around tonight. Cuteness overload
. Night-night everybody – JG I guess it’s morning in Australia. Have a great day!
Its the expression monkey has when demanding grooms from Moose.. although she hasn’t gotten the courage to actually do the “or else” when he doesnt cooperate. She usually just runs to me and looks at me like “mommy, why isn’t the mean boy giving kisses?”
So cute!! I’m glad to hear you guys are getting along better!
I also love giving pellets as treats. They’re so tiny that they make perfect treats and I don’t have to feel bad about giving them (since it’s pretty hard to give very many). My bun loves them too and doesn’t seem to realize they’re the same stuff he gets for breakfast.
I think her color is patchy because her particular color changes throughout the year. MirBear has two in that color and says that they turn light and then dark throughout the year. So maybe she’s just getting her fall/winter coat.
I hope she is shedding her fall/winter coat and putting on her Springtime bikini – we have had enough winter
.
I thought you were an Aussie too for some reason, which is why I said she was getting in her winter coat. Duh! Looks like she’s getting her summer coat then 😉
Oh, I wish!! I do love everything Aussie – thus the name I gave Bindi!! I’m a Floridian who somehow ended up in WV for the last several years – go figure ![]()

im pretty sure her colour is changing. like i said in your “introduction” both of mine looked identical to that and their fur got darker 1 coat at a time.. hthey also got that look on their fur and then a few days later a small dark patch would be there and then it would grow and cover their body. for example:
heshey:
light grey to…
light brown and the dark patch is still growing
then covers her so shes chocolate and she gets another patch thats darker
then twix…
light grey to
dark brown

i was doing some research and i dont think that they get lighter again ![]()
then again i have no idea, i havent had mine for a full year yet so we’ll see…. i’ll know for sure by the end of spring.. hershey has a dark patch and if it keeps growing i know that they dont get lighter again.. but if it goes away then i know its just a seasonal thing….
Wow, MirBear, I’m sorry I doubted you – it looks like you were right! I can’t believe how much Hershey and Twix looked like Bindi and now they are so…well…chocolatey
. I can’t wait until she looks like Hershey and Twix – she looks like a Catahoula cattle dog!
lol its ok, lol i dont mind
personally i prefer the lighter colour but at leat now they match my cats
and actually thats the reason why i choose them over all the other buns.. because they look like the cats
I don’t think buns come in yellow tabby, but that would be cool, huh? Bindi is the color of my first house bunny who was about 12 lbs and a beautiful silver blue. I have to scan Rumple’s pictures so you can see my first bun!
Not quite a yellow tabby, but… close enough eh? ![]()

That would definitely work!! I can already feel the fever taking control – after Bindi’s spay, there is no telling what I might do ![]()
I hear ya… hubby says we can talk about getting another bun after M&M are bonded.. he says “talk” and then says “grey lop” lol. At least I have a limit now.. I can only go after grey loppies
…hmmm he didn’t specify what KIND of lop however…. *eyes Griffin*
I really, really like Spidey’s big old golden boy – I don’t know his name! I have little gray, multi-colored Diva Dwarf – now I would like gentle golden giant to snuggle with. We have a really big bunny rescue close by and I cannot wait to take Bindi for a play date. ![]()
I cannot get DH to agree to a second bun until we get a house 🙁 That will be at least 3 more years! I’ll just have to keep working on him and maybe he’ll change his mind. My rescue will even do the bonding for me!
My DH gets really frustrated because Bindi is so cute and soft and he just wants to snuggle with her, but she will have none of that. So, if I can find a big snuggle bunny, I’m sure he would be happy to give it a fabulous home.
i totally understand, bindi. my guy gets so angry with MJ because he won’t snuggle. he lets you pet him now that he’s been neutered, but he’s far from being a lap-bunny. part of it is that he won’t get down on the floor with MJ, and we all know that’s the best way to bond. oh well.. i can only encourage. =\
Otto has become quite a snuggle bun, but it took him 10 months with us to get to this point. And he’ll still only snuggle on the floor, only at certain times of the day (evening) and only if you approach him the right way (he prefers kisses on the nose to start things out). So even the more snuggly bunnies can be very particular about their snuggling! Haha. Give Bindi time – she might come around, especially after she’s spayed. That should help a ton.
both of mine like to snuggle me… i cant snuggle them but they snuggle me.. ![]()
Thanks for the encouragement guys!! I keep telling myself that it will come in time. What is so funny is she will hop right up to Loki the cat or Sadie the German shepherd and just kiss them and ask for grooms, etc. without hesitation. My GSD’s head is bigger than her whole self!! I am encouraged because she hasn’t made me bleed in a couple of weeks
. I never even feel it when she bites me – it’s like she bumps me and grrrsss at me and then I look down later and there is a drop of blood on my hand. I never realized how sharp their teeth are – like razors. It’s not that bad because she has only done it twice, but it made quite the impression on me and I am learning a lot faster than she is
. I got her Jan. 25th, so we’ll get there. Despite the up and downs of our relationship, I can’t help but love her little rotten self!![]()
hershey is like that, fearless. shes only ever been afraid of 1 thing… my sisters chow but other than that she LOVES dogs cats everything
MirBear, I think it is so amazing when animals who should be prey/predator end up being good friends. ![]()
Despite what a lot of people think, rabbits tend to be the dominant animal in the household assuming that they aren’t immediately eaten by the other animal. Somehow, they can sense that they’re not going to be a chew toy and take advantage of it.
You’re absolutely right, MarkBun. The pecking order is : Bindi – 3 lb rabbit, Loki – 18 lb cat and Sadie – 80 lb German shepherd. Poor Sadie is such a sweetheart and Loki literally walks all over her – now he is getting a taste of his own medicine ![]()
lol, thats the way it runs in my house
bunny – cat / bunny- cat
