(The title rhymes! Even if it should be ‘me’ instead of I.)
Hi, my name is Henryetta and I’m a girl who’s looking for advice to make my rabbit’s life better. My family have owned bunnies for most of my life, but it’s never been me doing the caring as rabbits aren’t ‘my thing’ (allegedly – get to that bit later, but I have to start at the very beginning for this to make sense.) Oh yeah, and I live in the UK. I don’t know how many, if any, other members live her but hi from soggy England.
So, we’ve had bunnies all my life, as I said: I remember having two separate bonded pairs until we moved house, then only one pair, and then none
However, a long while ago, a woman contacted us saying she was moving to Russia and couldn’t take her rabbit with her. His name was Sandy, and he was a large lop-eared fellow who was great fun. His owner taught him to play football and chase for chocolate biscuits! Obviously that stopped as soon as he moved in with us! But the point is, he came by himself, so we adopted a little cream bunny from the RSPCA, called Ripple, who was only a tiny baby (less than a year old).
Sandy died when he was about eight (quite a while ago now!) but Ripple kept going, so we then adopted another bunny from the Bluecross as a husbun for her. His name is Pickles and I still have him. Sadly Ripple passed away a few weeks ago, so it’s just Pickles right now, though I’m thinking of getting him a wifey sometime in the future.
He’s a male, obviously, and so far as I can tell is a Palomino, though I’m certainly no expert in this regard!! He currently lives in a stupid two storey wooden hutch which I hate, but spends the majority of his time in my bedroom with me <3 However I have plans for him to move into my room permanently (hence joining a house rabbit forum) as he is already well-litter trained and simply a pleasure to be around. Also he is 3.6 kilos (8 lbs ish?)
When we first got Ripple, and then later ‘Pixie’, it was my mum and my brother who were meant to be responsible for them. However, Mum only really had time for the very basics, and my twin just couldn’t be bothered (‘But I like cats&rsquo so in the last few months I have taken over caring for him.
Aside from the rabbit we also have 3 horses (mine & mum’s), 3 dogs (everyone’s), a cat (brother’s), 2 guinea pigs (mum’s), 3 tortoises (mum’s), 2 chinchillas (mine), a hamster (mine), a fish (brother’s) and a locust (mine). The majority rescues and all spoiled rotten. <3 <3 <3
