so awhile ago I posted a question asking what vacuum cleaners you guys use to get all the bunny fur/haysplosion mess/etc. someone mentioned the dyson pet vacuum, which is a hefty $520.00 at target. I saved up and my parents offered to pay for half, and IT. IS. AMAZING. AMAZINNNGGGGGGGG.

so, if any of you were looking for new clean up tools.. start saving. it’s absolutely worth it!

Oo, I’m glad you like it! We have two vacuums, but neither work that well. I’m just waiting for them to die so I can talk DH into a Dyson Animal.

I love my Dyson! I have an older one from before the pet version, but it is still awesome! Watch out – the hay does tend to get clogged in the hose, but it is super easy to clean out, I’m just usually too lazy to clean up the big pieces by hand before vacuuming!

Congrats, what a great birthday gift!

I love my dyson too. And yes, the hay can get clogged in the hose. I found it really hard to get unclogged though. But I always pick up big pieces of paper or hay before vacuuming. Just keep in mind that while it is amazing, it wasn’t exactly built to handle the messiness of rabbits. Glad you love it! I had the same reaction when I used mine for the first time. I vacuumed Eddie’s area rug and it look brand spanking new after I got done. Freaking amazing! LOL

I like my Dyson too. I actually have a separate one for my rabbits because I don’t want any odors from the vacuum that I use for them to permeate the rest of the house since I pick up poops w/the Dyson. I’ve had to rig mine up as well for my rabbit room. I do have 6 rabbits so that is an issue with any vacuum cleaner and clean their area twice a day.

I love it as a regular vacuum for the rest of my home too. Right now I am using the ball version for that. I’ve gone through quite a few with the rabbits room though.

Can you describe what is so amazing about it compared to other vacuums?

There should be a vacuum made by bunny owners, FOR bunny owners *laugh*

I have a Dyson, not the pet version though. I don’t use it for hay. I have a carpet sweeper for that Then after I use the sweeper, thats when i use the dyson. Its awesome at picking up pet fur, even with the non-pet version.

it picks up fur like no othe vacuum I’ve seen!! haha. I have a rug for the bunnies area, and I sweep it vigorously with a brush before vacuuming, and I could still never get the fur out of the carpet. one time with the dyson and it looks brand new, it totally blew my mind.

Sorry, I don’t understand. Are you comparing to some weird inferior vacuum? My vacuum is broken; got it for free on craigslist. It picks up fur just fine as does my handheld. My own hair on the other hand, haven’t found anything to vacuum that up from the floor.

I have a bissel and it handles fur and human hair (my hair gets over everything ) just fine. Hay now… constantly have to take the hoses out to clean them, gr. We need a bunny-vac that can handle hay.

Glad you found something that works for your buns.
