I’ve been a bunny Mom for a little over a year.

In the Summer of 2009, I rescued Chessie Pow-Pow from a friend’s cat, who mauled her siblings … she was the lucky white bunny that got away!  She was guestimated to be about 4 or 6 weeks old & was dehydrated/super thin from living out in the wild lands of Walnut Creek.  I’m am preparing to spay her, in attempts to successfully bond her with a new bunny this Fall/Winter (&who lives in another room at the moment).

This Summer … I fell in love with a 9-week old dwarf.  This is JJ Winks.  She comes from the County Fair.  After Chessie heals from her surgery, I plan to get this little gal spayed in the Fall.

              & Thank you MirBear

I’ve referenced this website, esp the forums, when I first got Chessie …
now that I have two (that are up for that scary surgery – spaying) … I will definitely need LOTs/more advice before and after the girls heal.

I’m guessing there will definitely be more advice asking for the bonding – I keep reading how 2 girls are the hardest to bond usually! But I’m sure with the snip snip and patience and persistence it can be done, and what a cute pair they will make. Lovely girls!

misskrisnyc – yes there will be loads of questions come bonding time! Right now I’m in “pre-bond” mode: getting both girls prepared for spaying (yikes)

Beka27 – thanks. I’m so grateful for these forums!

                        Brittany – hee hee hee! I double-checked JJ’s eyes & they’re gray LOL. She’s still adorable tho

MirBear – LOL JJ is irresistible!

Quick question to all you bunny parents:
I’m soooo nervous about after-spay-care & the litter box … I’m currently using Fresh World Bedding in a cat litterbox that has an attachment/high rim extension (that can snap off).
Any advice? remove attachment? make a towel roll/ramp? not use the litterbox (ewww)?
                        THANKs in advance!!

Do you need the rim extension? If not, take it off so she can jump in easier. If she tends to pee over the edge though, might be better to just leave it on. After the spay you will want to have them in a limited area, no jumping or running allowed.

                            Thanks Monkeybun!
The extension is for Chessie’s digging habits, keeps most of the litter/poopies in the box. But I don’t imagine she’ll be “digging” right after her operation, LOL!

I’m waiting to hear back from the Oakland SPCA to make/book the appointment. I’m so anxious/worried about this whole thing. I know it’s necessary, but I don’t anticipate seeing Chessie in pain
