Behavior Change – Less Energy

For the last few weeks I had to break our schedule because I’ve been studying, had important events, etc, and my bun was rarely let out for floor time (which I feel so awful about). This week, things settled and I started letting Olive out more and started agility training again, except I’m noticing he’s not really active and playful anymore. He doesn’t binky, zoom around, or jump on top of his hidey house. He started having potty issues during floor time so I keep his litter box out with him and all he does is sit and eat in his box for the entire two hours, only occasionally stepping out to groom himself or sit and stare or ask for pets.
I’m afraid that he’s depressed or sick or something! But other than this I haven noticed anything different about him, so I’m not sure. His poos are great, he still eats lots of hay, etc, and he’s still young (although he was only 4 months and recently neutered when I got him). I’m just so worried, but could it just be age/maturity that’s is making him less active? He’s about six months now. Should I be concerned, or am I overreacting?

He should still be very active, they don’t chill out mostly till they’re at least a year old. He probably is just angry and playing with him more should readjust him. As long as he is eating the same and there are no health abnormalities that you can observe (make sure you pay attention closely though in his waste and food intake, as well checking his eyes and nose for crust), there shouldn’t be anything to worry about.

6 months is still young, too young to become sedate. Keep monitoring his pooping and eating. Hopefully he is just disgruntled with the lack of attention from your side, but it does seem a bit odd. Could he have gas issues? That can be painful. You could try and massage his tummy a bit to see if it helps.

Thank you for the responses guys! I think he was just grumpy at me. He’s great now and back to doing his crazy binkies and zipping around the room.
