Ok folks, we get all of these lovely pictures of your bunny’s habitat right after you’ve cleaned.. but what does it look like now, before you’ve cleaned? (Karla, we’re talking about you!)
Ok I’ll go first, my order is a bit messed up because I have two ‘afters’ since I changed the habitat area:
All nice an clean:

Messy! I hadn’t cleaned in “uh it gets really gross after a month..” They shredded so much cardboard it was like one of those rooms instead of filled with balls it was filled with cardboard pieces. In fact while I was cleaning, I filled a garbage back with shredded pieces. Arduina kept trying to jump in the pile, like a kid jumping in a pile of freshly raked leaves…

Yeah so the first thing they did in their new room was start ripping up more cardboard.
New habitat… cageless!

I think my vote doesn’t really count. I’m an everyday person. I clean the litter box twice a day but Hugo is pretty much a free range bun. He is in a penned area at bedtime and that is in my kitchen. So I clean it every morning after I let him out. He’s also a pretty tidy bun. Doesn’t chew on his cardboard boxes. He just spreads hay all over the carpet that I clean up 3 times a day because it’s in my living room. I’m always cleaning! =)
I clean litterboxes every couple days, but not their entire pens. Moosie loves making a mess, and its hard to keep up with him. Besides, he loves his messes, and gets cranky and hides in his cage away from us when we mess with his messes. lol
Well I admit I pick up hay pieces and poopies every day, and change the litterbox every other day.. But full cleaning with vacuuming/mopping, is more like every other week or so..
I probably wouldn’t if his litter box wasn’t in my kitchen! I just use a rag on the floor with a spray bottle after I sweep it. Right now I have to vacuum my house everyday because of how much he is shedding. White fur is everywhere!
You don’t want to see my rabbit room right now. No, really. There’s poop and hay everywhere. Haven’t cleaned it in a few weeks. ![]()
Fluffybunny, we want pics! That’s all we get are pretty perfect pictures, but show us how it really is.
Well, dang it anyhow…I just cleaned my cage
I clean the litterbox every morning, and shake out (and replace if needed) the fleece blanket covering the bottom of the cage every other day or so. Then, every 3 or 4 days I take everything out and sweep up. Luckily, Oliver is pretty well litterbox trained. He’s pretty easy to clean up after. If I could just keep the hay in his cage and off my living room carpet! ![]()
I clean and replace litterboxes everyday and completely clean the bunny room every other day. My boys can create a weeks worth of mess within hours lol. I had to screw the litterboxes to the walls and the hay boxes. But I still go in every morning to a hay and cardboard tornado. So I clean every other day so it doesn’t get too hard to clean.
Ok, so…here are the clean after pictures….it did get pretty bad but we can see the floor now! See how happy everyone looks?

Iwayne I am jealous of your bunny room, lol!
I’m in the middle of attempting to keep this house cleaned so that there are more potential buyers. It is really annoying to have to clean EVERYDAY, but it is worth it if my bunny is happy. So for now, I just use an x-pen in the living room, and she is in the garage during the day
.. it saddens me so much. Usually, she has an x-pen connected to her kennel.
Until I move, its just x-pen. BLAH. I dislike it!!
Anyways, when the kennel was in the living room, I usually cleaned the tray once every other week. I do litter box cleaning 2-3 days.
katiep, how many bunnies do you have?![]()

I do clean every day! I vacuum and wash the floor. I hate mess and dust. And most of all, I hate the fact that I have hay stuck to my socks when I leave the bunny room, so that gets me cleaning every day. But yeah, then there is all the other mess like used tea cups left in the room et.c, but I will promise not to clean today and most of tomorrow and then take a picture
But honestly, our apartment is up for sale, so that is why it needs to look clean and not like a bunny room.
And by the way, I think your bunny room looks really good even when you claim it is time for cleaning!!
Brittany- I have 7 wonderful buns….they make a lot of mess and are alot of work but they are so worth it! My Mom always said: “Once you get your own house you can have 100 rabbits!” Well, she didn’t know I was gonna take her up on that offer! Well, maybe not 100 but 7 is enough right now! I love having my own house! LOL ![]()
I vacuum my rabbit’s room twice a day. I clean litter boxes every 4 days.
A few of my rabbits have rugs down on top of a large rug in their pen and I try to wash these once a week because Mango is particularly stinky.
My Dutch pair are in a Leith Condo and I vacuum that twice a day as well and really should replace their carpet sometime soon but not because they pee on it just because it’s full of fur.
I usually change the big carpet underneath the rabbit pens (Mango & Toffee) every six weeks.
I really cannot stand too much messy.
I do a full clean every sunday for Jenny. I keep several litterboxes for her convienece lol I change them as needed, and every sunday reguardless. Peepers cage is cleaned every morning, and the litterbox changed every other day.
I do the litter boxes about twice a week, but I honestly only fully clean the rest every two weeks. I do pick up stray poops along the way, and sweep up any loose hay (which is just in a plastic pet store cage, so a small area) plus spot cleaning the cage if Hannah pees in it. Then every other week I take everything out and vacuum the area rug portion, clean up bits of cardboard, and really make sure the petstore cage is cleaned with vinegar. It really doesn’t get that messy in between except for the bunny fur that gets stuck all over the carpet. Sometimes if they’re really shedding I’ll take a slicker brush and brush the rug down instead of hauling up the vacuum. lol

Thanks Karla, but pictures don’t capture the mass amounts of fur.. there were dust bunnies (real ones make out of real bunny fur!) the size of baseballs! I would prefer to do a full vacuuming/mopping once a week of the whole house, but I really don’t have the time to do that.
My S.O. is opposite of me on the ‘cleaning’, he is Lord of the Basement, which is a complete mess (although I finally got him to clean some of it this weekend), I do the upstairs. It’s hard to keep up after taz (and I’m not talking about the bunnies). Luckily the bunnies help me clean, in the regard that anything left out has the potential to get chewed, and “its not my fault”.
Bunnies actually taught me how to clean, the bunny I had when I was little was free run in my room, mostly litterboxed trained (for being unspayed -parents were cheap). I had to keep everything picked up off the floor otherwise it was subjected to chewing or peed on.
katiep what are those blue and green thingys in the litterboxes??i have a problem with my bunny peeing over her box.maybe that will help.
