        Hi everyone,

My name is Kate and I have just in the last couple of days gotten my first rabbit Beans.  He is a 2 month old, black and white neverland dwarf.  His personality at this point seems to be fantastic as right now, he is doing a formula 1 impression around the kitchen and hallway but as soon as I pick him up he snuggles in for cuddles.  I think it is safe to say that he is a confident little man as within 1 hour of getting home on his 1st day he was binkying around and investigating everything.  There was me worrying that rabbits are stressed by new situations!

I decided on a house rabbit as I have recently moved from England to Lisbon.  I have always had cats, dogs and horses (along with a long list of other rodenty types) in the past, but as I am now in an appartment a rabbit seemed much more suitable.  In time I plan to get him used to harness walking so that he can still have some outside time, and in the summer he will have a garden to play in as I spend then in the Algarve.

As for me, im 23 and have just graduated from film school.  As I said before, I moved to lisbon and im now fumbling around trying to learn this complicated language!

Thanks,  I think he is rather cute too, but thats mother’s pride talking!  I am getting a bit worried about this teenage years business though after reading through the forum…do they vomit split pea soup at any point?

On the film side I would love to get into films in time but at the moment I am going to go back to horse training for a while.  As the language is universal with animals it makes my life easier and they wont mind if I cant work out this masculine and feminine malarkey!

Just spotted my typo…I realise beans isnt from peter pan! lol. What a muppet.

LOL, at times it may feel like that. Honestly, if you know what you are in for and why it is happening, I actually think it is a fun period. I do sometimes miss that period when things were crazy and you never had time to rest. Of course, I do enjoy now that my bag, my shoes, my wallpaper, my cushions, well, everything, is intact

Cool! That sounds great. So you have a job in Lisboa as horse trainer?

Sounds like great fun!? Lol.  Well at least my walls will stay mostly intact as they are all tiled here but then there are still the doors, door frames, wardrobe, kitchen cabinets…………

Well I was doing some work with show jumpers but it turned out that the boss wanted a little more than his horses trained.  Needless to say I made a swift exit so im back to square one with looking.  Something will come along, but until then I will be a stay at home bunny mum.

I’ve heard from several places that lemon oil is good to put on things you don’t want chewed…it has never worked here. Heck, not even tabasco worked. We also tried rubbing garlic on door frames. At least, you can stock up on those things now and hope it will work in your case, because I do know that it works for some bunnies. At least, a teenage bunny really teaches you to keep a tidy home. You will never again let your shoes lie about in the hallway, have cables sticking out or leave your bag on the floor.

Although mine are well-behaved (apart from these two weeks), whenever I walk past some cables at work just lying on the floor, I automatically freeze and think “oh, no”. It’s a habit, I will never get rid of now

A stay at home bunny mum sounds great. That’s me in 3 weeks time also ’cause I’ve quit my job as well. I hope you get a good job soon!
