Feel like a horrible bunny mom right now!
I am sooooo much more attached to Pacey than I am Marshmallow and didn’t really notice it until someone asked me if having bunnies was good or bad. And I said both that Pacey was my good bunny and Marshmallow was my devil.
Then I started thinking about the what if’s and the one that made me feel horrible was:
What if I was forced no other option to give up one of my rabbits who would I chose to go? I didn’t even blink that I would keep Pacey…
Lol I felt so bad that I went and got Marshmallow and took her to the park with me.
Don’t get me wrong Marshmallow is my baby girl but I swear that rabbit can drive me up the wall in a space of 2 seconds.
haha, just the fact that you felt bad makes you a GOOD bunny mom! Don’t be so hard on yourself. Even the best bunny moms get driven up the wall now and then : )
I have to say… Monkey is my girl. I am so attached tho that little bunny, its not even funny
Moose is awesome too, but my baby girl is just special to me. Just wish she’d snuggle… lol.
I’ve thought the same thoughts the “What If’s”, but they are just that, doesn’t make u a bad person, specially if you feel badly about it LOL
I have a foster bunny who was supposed to be in my house 2 months, it’s been two years. I never wanted him but one of my bunnies fell in love with him, and though she passed away he is still here. He is the most odd bunny I have ever met, and drives me bonkers. I was talking about him to a friend in my rescue and she said “well does he know you feel this way?” … wow eye opener, how’d if my negative energy was feeding this behaviour?
It’s only been a few week, but I have totally changed the way I am around him, making sure to be more positive and loving. Yes, he’s still quirky but he enjoys pets now and that was a thing he would not let me do before.
Learning experiance for sure, and I totaly reccomend doing this to anyone with a additude filled ‘less favorite’ bunny and seeing if this bunny in your households character changes any.
Don’t be hard on yourself! Even parents have a favorite 😉
We’ve only had Hannah for a month, but I’m not ashamed to say that I love Otto more. He’s my baby boy and we’ve had him for so much longer. Plus he’s perfect and Hannah’s always getting into trouble 😛 It’s totally normal to feel that way, especially with the behavior issues you’ve experienced with Marshmallow.
i have to agree i love moose to pieces but she is sooo mcu more different the luna and i prefer luna over moose just because luna is the cuddly one and moose is far from it!
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having a favorite. Everyone knows that Meadow is my Baby Girl. I think it has to do with whoever has been with you the longest, you just have more of a history with them.
Also… in most of these cases (me, Sonn, Monkeybun, Elrohwen) we’ve had the first bun since they were very little, and the other was acquired as an adult. So there may be some degree of “I raised this bunny from a baby…”
Or sometimes, like Binkyfree said, favoritism is due to which bun is more interactive, more outgoing, snuggly, or easier to live with…
They key is that each and every bun receives the proper care and ideally, NO ONE is “rehomed” for any reason.
It’s funny that Hannah jumps on our laps and is much more interested in petting and snuggling, yet we love Otto more. He hops away 75% of the time when I try to pet him, but I still loves him! Haha.
I think Beka’s right that there is something extra when you’re raised a bun from a baby.
I have favorites… but they alternate!![]()
Some of them just grab you, I already had 5 bunnies when I met Hershey, but she was the ONE. Being a senior girl, I didn’t have her very long compared to my others, but I am still stunned by her death last February. I love all the others to death, each having a distinct and in the girls cases, very opinionated personalities, but there was just something about little Hershey that made her my soul bunny.

But really… babies are typically so messy and ill-behaved that it’s not something I’d recommend everyone go thru. The thing I love about Max is that he’s always been so… good. Never a poop out of place. Just an amazing boy. And best of all… HE CAME THAT WAY. We adopted him, “As is”… ![]()
Glad I am not the only one with a “favorite” . I just feel bad when I have favorites like my dogs I tend to overcompensate because Haven is my favorite so I feel bad that I don’t feel as close to my other dogs.
Pacey was a super easy baby he basically litter box trained himself I don’t remember if he did or didn’t really get into trouble. I do remember him getting out of his cage once and it took me all day and night to find him. But that is about it.
I don’t know why but Marshmallow just knows which buttons to push with me to get me all flustered and irritated lol
I have a good brother and an evil brother – does that count? hee, hee!
I agree that it doesn’t make you a bad bun mom =)
I feel bad sometimes, too, because I am definitely closer to Dallas than Duncan. But honestly I love them both a lot, and I think that’s what really counts!
Don’t feel bad – this is just being human. We know you love Marshmallow – I mean how could you not – she’s been through alot and she has a wonderful home with you were you accept her for what she is. You’ve ton a ton for her so we know you love her alot.
Pacey was the first and that means alot too. Sometimes our first rabbits are our most special that’s all it means.
