I did post a similar forum in bonding, but this is asking a different question.

This morning, the lady who was fostering my “future” bunnies called and told us they got into a fight, and didn’t think we wanted them anymore. Basically, she thought they were fixed, and now she doesn’t and I don’t either. She’s taking them to the vet on friday to find out, and this means I’d have to rebond.. This is option 1.

Option 2 is that we get some baby bunnies and get them fixed. When they are fixed we are going to bond them. Im new to bunnies and haven’t bonded before. How hard is it 1-10. 1 being super easy and 10 being super hard. I just want opinions.

I’m no expert, but I read through all the bonding info and decided to hold off on a second bun. If its an already bonded pair you’re lucky, but bonding takes time and effort and while bonding themn you’ll have to then bond them to youself also. And keeping 2 seperate buns will be more work, more money(double everything incl enclosures) and more stress- if its your first bun-i don’t know?- it takes a lot of getting use to. Getting to know each bun well so you’ll know when something is up with them, stressing about every little thing(like 10poos instead of 11) health checks, personalities and if there are 2 new buns, its 2 of each and seperate free play time(3-6hour/bun/day) . If you can’t get a bonded pair… Maybe start with just one bun you adore and add another once you are settled. If you are a minor, many things will change over the next few years… One bun is a lot to handle(ask AndHenry… Hahaha she has awesome stories) and I think starting out and adding the stress of bonding on top of things bnew(bunny new) might be such a challenge that it becomes more of a chore than a joy!

That’s just me! Hopefully someone else will give advice from a bonding experience.

Option 3 is to get an adult. I love baby bunnies, of course, but if you get an older one you’ll know it’s personality and save yourself a bundle if you get it through an organization that neutered them first.

I agree w/ manic muncher though and you may just want to focus on one

If you didn’t read above, Option 3 isn’t a option. I personally DONT want babies for all the reasons, but If I get 4 month olds that can be neutered days after I get them, I’ll be good.

It’s hard to say how difficult bonding can be. Sometimes a 1, sometimes a 100. Sometimes they won’t bond at all.

Why isn’t option 3 an option? If you can get babies, you can get adults… it’s just as easy to spay and neuter an adult as it is a youngster.

I am going to lock this thread as it’s no longer applicable. In another thread, BRM has said that they have decided to go with one bunny to start.

You can read that thread here: https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/aft/128938/afnp/362000/Default.aspx
