So, we took Pika (4 months old) in to be neutered today. He was not put under, since the vet found a noticeable heart murmur. She recommended we take him to a veterinary cardiologist. He has had no symptoms besides an occasionally slightly stuffy sounding nose, which I assumed was just how he is (Mr. Bunny was always the same way). I’m reading about heart murmur causes in young rabbits, and am slightly unnerved – most of what I’m coming across is sudden death, etc. I don’t want to lose another bunny after the 3 I lost at the end of last year. Has anyone dealt with this type of thing? Are there any forms that are treatable, etc. or does it always mean a short life?

I don’t know anything about bunnies with heart murmurs, but I found this when googling it. https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/aft/149242/Default.aspx it’s a thread from a user a little over a year or two ago. It seems like the bunny was in relatively good shape, despite the murmur, and that the best thing to do is not stress him out.

I feel like with bunnies in general, there can be sudden death just because they are so fragile. I’m sure he’ll be ok and live a happy and long life
