Baby Bunny licked the floor after I cleaned it with Fantastic…

Hi everyone,

Last week I rescued an 11-week old lop mix from a pet store. When I saw her, I noticed that she had green mucus all over her nose, and was sneezing up a storm. I told 2 employees about it, but they thought she was totally fine. I couldn’t in good conscience leave her there to get worse. I brought her to a vet that diagnosed her with an upper respiratory infection, and put her on a week on antibiotics (Baytril).

She’s been great! She eats and drinks normally, runs around and binkies every time she’s out. But last night, my roommate threw up on our carpet and we cleaned it with Fantastic. Tonight when she was out, I noticed her licking the spot on the floor where we used the cleaning solution. I freaked out and put her back in her cage.

I know cleaners are toxic to bunnies, so does anyone think she’s going to get really sick from that? She’s on antibiotics, so I know her immune system is down. What should I do?

Keep up lots of hay, veg (if you are feeding it yet) and water… Call your vet asap and ask what he suggests, sometimes they use an activated charcoal solution for toxic ingestion… I’m not sure what Fantastic is but make sure you know the active ingredients to advise your vet.

Was it dry already when she licked it? I’m not sure what the active ingredient is, but I would imagine that it denatures after a bit.

I think the big concern with cleaners is the scent-you spray it and it goes into the air, and rabbits are sensitive to that in their system (from breathing it in)-I think that it really wouldn’t be an issue-now if she’d licked the bottle or something yes, but the floor after it was cleaned, I think that it will be fine.
Of course keep an eye on it and if something seems wrong(eating, drinking, peeing pooping-goodness we need an abbreviation for the four signs of bunny health!) go strait in and bring the bottle.

It says it may cause discomfort to mouth or abdominal pain -so really I’m sure it will be fine

It had dried by the time she licked it! And it’s been a few days so I think she’s fine Thanks everyone!
